So were wanting to redo our kitchen in next few months were 1st time home owners but im just finding already the upheaval and hassle of everything so stressful and I know its going to get so much worst.

all we've done so far is decided on the style and lay out of the kitchen but not ordered anything yet. Weve taken the floor up but now weve came to a standstill. We think the next job to do is the electrics. Does anyone have a step by step guide of what needs to be done in which order. The room needs complete overhaul and its such a tiny space which makes its harder. There needs to be new floor tiles, new plastering ,new plugs put in, Painting, Units, wall Tiling, a fake wall building around pipework. My mind is completely boggled by it all.
I currently have a scrap of carpet and some scrap flooring down as a floor. I'm getting so stressed

When it comes to property renovations I'm a big believer in know your limits. Especially the first time you tackle a big job.

Save yourself some hassle (and potentially money) and hire a builder. Ask on local Facebook groups for recommendations and go from there. Get quotes and see what you can do.

A good builder will quote with an itemised list of works that will be done and the cost for each item. This allows you to negotiate a bit and examine what you need vs want vs can afford.

We are doing a huge reno at the moment. We've got the kitchen units from Howdens, but have got a great deal on some quartz work top from a local stone mason. He had the perfect thing in his stock so we are able to use off cuts to save money.

Find the largest kitchen showroom near you (that's open) and go and look. You don't have to buy from there, but look at all their storage options. How they've laid things out, colour combinations etc. We got so many ideas for ours doing this.

Think about how you use your space and what annoys you about the kitchen now.

Don't get intergrated appliances

Why not integrated appliances?

Have you done these things before? I'm not sure plastering and wiring are really DIY stuff with no experience?

It's also not the easiest thing to do in bits and bobs.

You need to be planning to do it over a short time really - old out abs new in.

My order was units out, flooring out, level flooring. Sort gas and wiring connections. New flooring down. Plastering. Units in. Painting. Worktops in, sink, splash backs.

But there can be many complications - I changed from normal to range cooker and ended up needing new gas pipes as old ones would cope with supply.

@Bluesheep8

Why not integrated appliances?
For lots of reasons mostly around maintenance and longevity.

Dishwashers can warp the door when intergrated due to the steam and heat.

They are a pain to replace and you can bet your bottom dollar they've discontinued your door when you do change it.

The doors often break before the appliance.

When we got ours done we got a firm in to do it and they organised all the electrics, and flooring and installation and plumbing work, etc. We kept our freestanding dishwasher and washing machine and they built the rest round them
