So about too move in a large house with nothing too my taste. There is alot of essential work that needs doing and there isn't going too be any money left too do the kitchen or bathrooms. They are fine and the kitchen is actually bespoke wooden pine Country style and I think painted it will be beautiful. The worktops are tiled beige..... Not really my cup of tea. The floor is red vinyl and walls are tiled and are hideous Red and white check. The bathrooms again the suites are OK but the one is tiled blue and yellow!!! It is very colourful. The other bathroom has a beautiful roll top bath with claw feet and farmhouse style sink, tiles are not too bad either but they have built massive cupboards which overtake the bathroom. If I rip them out I will have too retile. Looking for budget ideas too update it all a bit really too last until I save too have them all redone. Kitchen is going too cost a fortune as its huge. It's an old Welsh farmhouse. I found some French chic paint in cool beans for the kitchen units. Has anyone ever used dc fix? Thinking if I fill the tiled worktops. Maybe I could cover them in that? Any ideas inspiration is welcome. Thanks

Hello sp3849; Frenchic is a popular paint amongst upcyclers both professional and amateur and being EN71-3 accredited, means it’s safe to use around children; ask for support from your local retailer (check the Frenchic website for nearest stockist). Always good to look at paint ranges that can be used outdoors as they will offer extra protection in an area that sees a lot of wear and tear. If you need further assistance, have a look at www.thedirectoryofupcyclers.com where there is a list of professional kitchen painters. If you don’t want to engage anyone to paint your kitchen for you, they may be willing to guide you through the process and advise on what paint to use. Whichever paint you decide upon, check with the retailer for suitability and advice on use. Good luck! @thehouseofup

If the layout is ok and the cabinet are sound then you don't need to replace it - just renovate. It will be hundreds rather than tens of thousands.

You can paint the cabinets but you must MUST do all the prep correctly or it will chip and look ever worse. Do not skip any steps.

I’d remove the tiles and worktop myself and pay a joiner to fit laminate worktop from Ikea, which is very cheap.

And I’d also pay a tiler to fit very cheap tiles very well. This will look much better than expensive tiles fitted by you. These cost less than £6m2 and will look great in a traditional kitchen.

Vinyl is cheap and you can lay it yourself with the assistance of You tube.
