We have them in the utility, kitchen, diner, hall and downstairs cloak. I love them and it would be cheaper incl fitting to put them in the lounge but dh says no.

I imagine they would be very cold and sterile in a room which should be comfortable and cosy. We have tiles throughout the downstairs but have carpet in our family room and wood with a big rug in our living room. It sees a good balance.

Cold & Sterile matches my personality though 😀.

Wood can get damaged though and tiles are just so easy to care for.

Had a friend who had a Scandinavian style house built in 60's. Featured tiled floors and walls in every room. Looked like an abattoir!

Not in U.K. too cold and wet a country for tiled living room unless you have underfloor heating.

We have marble floors (didn't choose them - were here when we moved in) but we live in a hot country. I think in the UK I would want to cover with rugs which sort of defeats the point.

Yes, absolutely. It doesn't have to look cold. The colours of the decor can help you give the room a warm feel and so can lighting. If you then really want some textiles you can add a rug. We only have tiles downstairs and love them. Also much easier to keep clean.

Not in the UK I wouldn't. Unless you cover the tiles with a huge rug/s.

My brother has underfloor heating so is tiled throughout.

I also have underfloor heating - I have vinyl tile effect throughout.

Both are fabulous and work really well. Tiles would be very cold without UFH in the UK though unless you have lots of rugs.

I went the LVT route. A bit warmer underfoot, especially if you don't have underfloor heating, and the effects have more options. I went for a grey oak wood effect and it looks smart, feels warm and is very durable. Lost count of the number of times DD has spilt cereal/glue/paint in there and I've just swabbed it with some dettol wipes.

And it's cheap and easily replaceable if I wanted, and even my sceptical parents ("what do you mean? You're putting lino in the sitting room?!") admired the finished effect so much they've been looking into it themselves in my home country.
