Ethical brands?

I am going round in circles on Google / Etsy looking for a good quality, pretty cotton apron for a gift but it must be a sustainable / fairtrade cotton.

Google keeps showing me plain ones I can buy for trade and to print on and I think a lot of listings are not necessarily including info on their eco / fairtrade info on the actual apron listing so don't hit my Google results.

Can anyone recommend a good household brand which is all about fair trade / ethical products etc and might just happen to have a textiles / kitchenware arm??

Try GreenFibres, WeEarth London, EthicalShop, the Amnesty shop or SharedEarth? All purveyors of fairtrade/organic/ethical gifty household-y type things although I find (as with many things ethical) either you pay a huge premium or things look a bit too handmade/lentil weaver-y so you need to do a bit of trawling.

For things like this I use Ethical Consumer's product guides and recommendations, so much easier than trawling through google - as you've found it's a pain! It's a subscription service (I think £30-£35 a year) but if you are serious about wanting to go fully ethical really useful (a gift for yourself this Christmas maybe?)

Have a look at Traidcraft. I've had textiles from them in the past that have been good quality and the designs are often attractive. Their website tells you about the producers.
Failing that try the new ranges in charity shops - when they reopen. Our local Red Cross shop had some nice kitchen textiles last Christmas.
