I’m new to Roman blinds... advice needed

Silly question but I’ve never ordered blinds before and I’ve found a local lady on Facebook that will make some Roman blinds with the fabric of my choice.

They’re to go in my 1700’s cottage, I’ve just had the sash windows replaced in timber and painted in farrow and ball with brass hardwear to give you an idea of the style of the cottage. I’m worried there may be some plastic on show if I don’t see the blinds before they’re made. The lady says she always adds chrome pully cords, and she might be able to source brass at an extra cost. Would this look naff? Anything else I should look for?

Thanks so much in advance, I’ve not done this before!

Oh I should also point out they’re going in my currently 6 month olds room.

You shouldn't be able to see any plastic gubbins when the blind is complete. If you were my customer, I would use a wooden batten, covered in your fabric, with brass fittings. But I am very old!

I recently got some fabulous Roman blinds from Blind2go online. Ordered samples in advance, everything is very customisable and they were excellent value. I was a bit skeptical initially but they're perfect. Depends if you want to discuss requirements with your lady though - I pretty much knew what I wanted!

I don't think the brass pulley cords would look naff if it goes with the rest of your room. The metal pulleys are much more robust IME than the cord one.

The only thing I would say ( & I do not mean to be alarmist ) for a child's room make sure the pulley chains are above their head when at their lowest or put a hook type thing on the wall to wrap the pulley round. ( to avoid child being tangled up )

Other than that any decently made roman blinds will as @7to25 says , the batten where they are fixed should be completely covered by the fabric so I don't thing plastic showing should be a problem at all.
