Love love this William Morris Pimpernel wallpaper. Can anyone recommend paint colours pretty please. I need to paint fitted wardrobes in eggshell and then walls in emulsion. TIA

I'd keep it clean and simple and pick out the white
Maybe schoolhouse white F&B

I’m one for all white walls, but you might want to think about picking out one of the darker colours from the paper.

Have a look at the ideas in this link.

A lot depends on the light quality and aspect of the room, as well as the size of the space and how you want the room to feel. Picking out the light colour from it can be a good foil for using some of the stronger tones in your furnishings, curtains etc, but sometimes using a neutral in a large expanse against a pattern like that can just totally kill the bold colours.

I'm about to paint my bedroom Mizzle (F&B of course with a name like that 🙄), which looks like it would go nicely - a dusty grey-green.

Thank you all. Interesting blog post. I'm awaiting a wallpaper sample so can hopefully pick out colours. I am drawn to an white but I feel like it could be a mistake (as that blog post suggests). I find picking a neutral paint shade sooo difficult. Any experiences with timeless by Dulux or elephant's breath by farrow and ball. The room is east facing with sun in the morn. Quite bright. I've got a whole wall of fitted wardrobes to paint (should I use eggshell?) and one small bit of wall to paint (around the window). Wallpaper will be on two opposite walls (with the door and radiator, then the opposite wall will have the bed ).

I've got Timeless in my dining room and will have it in kitchen/utility too, also had it in my kitchen at last house. It's a beautiful white, I love it, but I think could be too bright for the wallpaper (but perhaps good for wardrobes?).

Beautiful wallpaper. Love William Morris.

I would go with gold, something that complimented the stems. I think white would be harsh.

We’ve got a William Morris India in red wallpaper on the fireplace wall. Used clotted cream from valspar on the walls.

W the previous owners had the one you chose, it looked beautiful but the paired it with a limey yellow neutral and the limey side of it didn’t work.

We have pimpernel lampshades in that colourway in the living room and dining roo. and picked out a sagey green for the walls. Got a few items to pick out the pink shades... Dusty pink velvet cushions, foot stool and blankets to break up the green.

We have done 2 opposite walls in the kitchen in William morris seaweed, the colourway we have has a cream in it and shades of indigo/petrol blue. Cream on the kitchen walls and the units/larder cupboard/chair pick out the blue shades. Sounds bonkers but I love it!!

Eggshell or satin will look nice on a big bank of wardrobes, I would pick out the pink shade in the flower buds, I think that'd look so beautiful! Then keep the ceiling and everything else in the more neutral creams of the big flowers.

Please come back to show us when you've finished!
