Has anyone good hard flooring throughout their house?

We have old carpets. There are reasons why we are considering hard flooring throughout, we have a bungalow. One is that our kittens have wee'd several times on the carpet(yuk) and have carpet cleaned etc and still there is a smell(disgusting I know)

Has anyone done the same and I'd love to see pics of your flooring!

Thanks in advance.

I havent got pics but my old hpuse had wood flooring throughout. It was a warm 60s parquet. I really miss it. You have to sweep a lot but its so easy to kerp clean. It is more echoey than carpets. So you need lots of other soft things to break up noise.

Thanks for your reply. I hover a lot as I have a blue carpet at the moment so I guess I'll just be sweeping a lot instead! :-)

We have karndean in the hall, kitchen and living room. Absolutely love it. It's been down 5 years and still looks amazing.

My friend does. 4 bed modern house (so not big at all). It's noisy but not cold, tbf.

Vinyl plank flooring isn’t cold or noisy. Laminate will be noisy

We have engineered wood in the living room. It is amazing - am so happy with it!

Don't have an issue with echoing or noise

shesellsseashells99 · 02/11/2020 09:19

Does it scratch easily?

I use a parquet floor head on my meile hoover as a normal head would scratch it but other than that I find my prettty hard wearing

Mine has a scratch from a visiting dog. I don't really notice it. I think scratches give it some character but with wood you can get it resanded if necessary.

We have engineered Wood flooring throughout the ground floor including the kitchen. It's been down 18 years. In the hall, living room, dining room etc it's virtually as new, the kitchen area is a bit more worn but when we get the kitchen replaced we will see if it's worth getting it sanded and refinished.

I'd also try some bicarb rubbed into the smelly bit of carpet, left for an hour and then hoovered to see if that helps with the smell.

Have always had laminate in hallway and kitchen. Just had karndean laid in front room. Absolutely love it, so easy to clean and you can see the dust and sweep, unlike carpet where it can sit unseen for days. We have a rug, which, although lovely was inexpensive, so if it becomes stained or worn it can be easily replaced. It is neither cold or echoey.

I've heard a lot about Kardean. Someone said it fits together like a puzzle?

Sorry, I replied to this yesterday but it didnt post. They screed the floor when glue down the thin plastic pieces. It sounds awful, but looks lovely. We have a dog, would absolutely recommend it.
