Curtain advice needed

This board has been so helpful and I'm back again!

I've added a couple of photos.

We've just had our dining room painted Parma Gray ( which is blue). It's a large Victorian cottage; this room has a south and east aspect. There's a birch vintage Ercol table and chairs arriving and light oak floors being done. Any thoughts on curtain colours/ styles? I'm very open to any ideas- from beige to cerise!

What about charcoal grey?

What sort of look are you after? Have a look on here to get some fabric ideas www.stylelibrary.com/ They have something for all tastes contemporary, retro, traditional, luxe etc. The fabrics on here are quite expensive but if you find something you like you can look around for cheaper

Are you planning on buying ready made or having them made to measure? My choice would be a full length curtain with a double pinch heading www.hillarys.co.uk/curtains/pinch-pleat-curtains/

If it's a Victorian cottage with wood how about a William Morris type print. You could go for something like www.housedecorinteriors.co.uk/fabrics/mor220329_bluebell_fabric_sea_green_vellum_william_morris_and_co_archive_prints_collection/ this in an period house
It sounds like you have quite simple tastes so I wouldn't go for swags or anything fussy.
Do you know what kind of light fittings you want or rugs etc?

I was thinking Morris or Rennie Macintosh fabric. Pinch pleat.

Thank you! We had looked at the Morris print curtains at John Lewis, or getting some made up. Sounds like a plan Smile

I agree William Morris would look lovely. If you fancy something a bit different have a look at Emma Shipley emmajshipley.com/collections/fabric they look great made up but are quite bold

In terms of style, I would have them floor length and on a pole wide enough to just clear the windows in daylight. I would probably keep them fairly neutral eg cream or charcoal, because they are expensive, and that would enable me to change my decor as and when without replacing them.

this blog has a useful guide on curtains and lots of other inspiration. I find her look a bit too over the top for me but she is very knowledgeable.
