Stupidest thing I've ever done?

Hi ladies need some help as have got sellers regret! Am literally cringing and wanting to kick myself!

So am having a sort out and find a modern style chandelier that came with the house but didn't suit the bedroom so took it out.

Its been in the basement for 12 months but on Sunday was "on one" and put 3 items on Facebook marketplace. Figured it was worth £30 so after spending an hour painstakingly checking all the pendants, the drop, fixing them etc etc the lady came & gave me full asking price, no haggling, no checking all the bits were there after all that effort and gave me cash. She seemed really nice.

Out of interest I asked her where she was putting it and she said in her kitchen above her island. When she left I looked at my own kitchen and thought wow! It would have looked really good in my own kitchen!!! Argh!! Perfect match for the handles etc...

So from being happy I got £30 for a free light, I now have sellers regret that i didn't think of that myself.

The worst thing is I carried it through the kitchen to clean it!!

What I'd like to know is

A) have you done anything similar? 😜
B) can you make me feel better?? 😫🙏😘

Ah, don't worry about it, that lady who bought it off you will be kicking herself when she realises how quickly all those drops and pendants get covered in grease and dust. Chandelier style lights are not the best sort of lights for a working kitchen. A dining room, sure.

Assassin is quite right about the grease and dust. She may well have buyer's remorse by Christmas...

I thought you were going to say you've now realised its worth hundreds!!
I agree with others, nightmare to clean, you're well rid.

Coffeecak3 · 06/11/2020 11:51

I agree. It will need cleaning weekly to look good. We inherited 2 black bedroom lights with drops on, they're usually white with dust. My dh likes them but they are not going to stay.
Oh and Venetian blinds, thank God we no longer have those. Cleaning them was torture!

SlopesOff · 06/11/2020 11:57

Surely you just clean Venetian blinds with a long handled feather duster thingy? Unless they are in the kitchen which is another thing altogether and can day a whole day to remove the grease and dust from a previous occupant.

Pretty much every item of clothing I have taken to the charity shop. Especially all the ones from 20 years ago that have since come
Back into fashion.

Coffeecak3 · 06/11/2020 12:07

@SlopesOff yes, they were in the kitchen.
Before roller blinds became popular so many years ago.

Going too pale with a bedroom carpet before DH and I got arrived. We’d had a leak in the en suite, so claimed on the insurance as the bedroom carpet had rotted.

Went to John Lewis. Asked for a recommendation. They asked the standard questions - did we have children (no), did we have pets (no), what room was it for (bedroom). We went with a neutral. Great.

It was so so so pale when they laid it. And way too pale for us to keep properly clean. Thankfully we moved a year or so later as I dread to think how it would have looked even another year down the line.

I also should have realised how much wasted carpet there was and asked for it, rather than be the clueless person I was as they must have taken it all away. It would have carpeted the spare room.
