Ikea vs Argos?

So ness to buy a cheap two seater sofa for a small space.

Found one in Ikea which is £179
Found one in Ikea which if £200 both on the similar side

BUT Ikea delivery charge at present will be £49 and the Argos is only £6.95 so which would you go for? I'll be saving £20 by going to Argos.

I've only ever bought things like this from Ikea so just wondering is it worth actually forking out £49 in a delivery charge

The second one is meant to say Argos £200

Depends on the sofa. Can you link? I bought Argos sofas in an emergency and they’re still going strong 2.5 years later. Grin

Have you checked eBay? There are lots of sofa sellers.

Honestly, the quality if either will be pretty awful. Facebook market plac for a 2nd hand good quality one every time.

yourestandingonmyneck · 19/09/2020 09:43

Ikea, definitely. Argos quality is dreadful.

PP says both are dreadful. I would disagree. I think Ikea is well built and good value for money.

IKEA! I have had for years and never had issues despite toddler jumping on them for years. My Argos dining table broke in year and needed replacing.

When we were just starting out in our own place we got an argos sofa. It was awful to sit on after about a year. We gave it away free eventually and bough a second hand good quality sofa and chair from a charity shop for less money than the argos sofa had been. That one is still going strong now after 5 years.
Go for the ikea, never have had any issues with their stuff.

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 19/09/2020 21:40

I've got an amazing Ikea sofa. Nearly 10 years old and soooo comfy.

DramaAlpaca · 19/09/2020 21:45

IKEA rather than Argos.

I'd never buy a sofa without sitting on it first, though.

MaggieFS · 19/09/2020 21:51

Ikea stuff is bloody bomb proof and even when you wish it would die because you have moved house or have more money for something nicer, it's still there, going strong.

chunkyrun · 19/09/2020 21:52

I'd rather spend £200quid on second hand then Argos. Have a few ikea kallax bits going strong

ALLIS0N · 19/09/2020 21:56

Ikea for a sofa.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 19/09/2020 21:58

Ikea for furniture over argos definitely.

All our ikea stuff is bomb proof so would rather buy new ikea than second hand other brands.

Too true

I am sitting on my Ikea sofa that is 16 years old.
The Argos one bought a couple of years before had collapsed in places within a year.

CountFosco · 23/09/2020 10:33

Another with an ancient IKEA sofa here, 17 years old and still is fine. Just regular cover changes required to keep it looking OK.

Bluesheep8 · 23/09/2020 12:30

Sorry but I agree with a pp, I couldn't spend money on a sofa I hadn't seen or sat on. But I am very old fashioned and don't even by clothes without seeing them in the flesh.

Bluesheep8 · 23/09/2020 12:31

buy !!

december212 · 23/09/2020 12:37

I had an Argos sofa, chair and footstool for 8 years. They cost in total £250, were well used but looked as good as new when they were replaced. The replacement was Ikea stocksund sofas. About £400 each, bomb proof and washable covers. They have a 10 year guarantee so expect they will last at least that long.
