Help with paint colours!

We are struggling with colours for our newly renovated living and dining rooms, help!

Ideally we want to use F&B hague blue for the accent wall in our living room (chimney breast surrounding the fireplace and alcoves) but are struggling with what colour to use in the dining room as they are adjoining with only a small archway to divide them. We are thinking of using the hague blue accent in the living room with F&B pigeon as the accent in the dining room with F&B dimpse on all the other walls (including the adjoining archway walls).

Does this make sense to anyone and would it work do you think? The hague blue and pigeon would be on the 'same' back wall separated by the dimpse archway as you walk into the room.

Sorry for the rambling post, really stuck with this and don't want to get it wrong!

I’ve spent this morning trying out a number of F&B paint testers and based on that I’ve concluded that it’s very rare for two F&B colours to really clash! The colours are just too muted for that 😂

I haven’t tried any of the colours you mentioned recently, but if I remember correctly Pigeon can look quite greenish in certain light conditions, which may not look as nice with Hague Blue, as some of the other potential colour combinations. Pigeon will also be quite a bit lighter than the Hague Blue, so the Hague Blue wall could end up having much more of an impact than the Pigeon wall. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but just something to be aware of!

My suggestion would be to get some colour testers. For your feature walls, I would personally go for two colours that are more similar in terms of how dark/ intense they are, just because it’s easier to find a really good combination that way. The F&B website shows for each paint colour what type of undercoat is recommended for wood paint (light, medium, dark). I’ve found that quite helpful for getting an idea of how dark/ intense a colour is likely to be.

I hope that helps!
