My lovely dad has given me an unexpected gift which means the kitchen I expected to replace in a couple of years, I can do now.
Very excited but also want to get it right.
The kitchen is roughly 5m by 4m in a 1920s house.
I want something durable and easy clean.
Budget £10-15k.
What are your best tips to include and things to avoid?
Any recommendations about good companies?
Thanks in advance

Pan drawers instead of cupboards are the best thing i did! Plus induction hob, two full sized single ovens rather than a double oven.
We got ours from DIY kitchens, it was the best price but kne of the few places that did a matt white slab kitchen rather than gloss white or off white shaker.
I read alot of threads on here and houzz about planning kitchens and designed it myself.

Thanks that’s very helpful. Will look at DIY kitchens

All fitted appliances.

Agree with only pan drawers below the waist.

Quooker.

Induction hob.

As little as possible on work surfaces.

Splash back instead of tiles.

Think about what you need to store. Work out where everything will go and then decide on units. Too much work surface gets cluttered, so think about how much you actually need.

Things I loved:

pan drawers - all drawers on the bottom in fact
induction hob
solid surface worktop
pull out cabinet

Things I would do differently:

I would not get a crap wire fitting inside pull out larder that I can;t get things out of
I would not get a fucking white solid surface sink!! (it's now brown)
I would get the kickboard drawers. Should have got them.

I've got pan drawers, it's all drawers under the counter one one stretch of the kitchen. They look nice but they are heavy when full and so get left wide open all the time because they don't swing shut easily like cupboard doors. I'm replacing them with a single 4 drawer unit for cutlery and then cupboards along the rest of the stretch with dividers so plates and pans can stack sideways. An eye level oven (or two 😁) with slide and hide doors is on my list too!
