Painting a staircase - advice needed please!

Hello

Does anyone have any advice on how I can reach a really high wall in my hallway stair case? The stairs are U shaped, with the middle bit being stairs rather than a landing (so stairs, 90 degree turn, stairs, 90 degree turn, stairs) - there is a probably a proper name for those type of stairs! This means my normal ladders won't reach as won't be wide enough to put they on a stair (I do have some multi point ladders but they won't be high enough).

I'm tempted to do it with a long roller, but how can I cut in if I'm so far away?

Is there a way I can do it myself of will I have to get a decorator in with better equipment?

Thanks!

I have stairs like yours - we live in a 3 storey and think we will have to get a decorator in to do it as it's so hard to reach

I’ve just painted my hallway. I wasn’t prepared to use a ladder on the stairs so my only option was painting it all white using a roller on an extendable stick as that way I didn’t have to worry about nearly cutting in.

Neatly or nearly cutting in.

Thanks @BG2015 @Deardonkey

I think they are my only options really aren't they. It just frustrates me paying for something I can do myself but think I'll have to resign myself to the fact I can't. White is a good idea but think it's going to take a few coats to get over the red the previous owners have painted it Confused

Nearly cutting in definitely describes all the walls in my house Grin

I’m just looking on amazon for an extendable roller, my stairs are the same, I’m also just doing the whole lot white because it’s far too high to worry about cutting in with a colour.
Good luck!

I did this a few years ago, when I was young, broke and foolish. It was all in white to avoid cutting in. Even my long handled roller wouldn't reach - I had to parcel tape a meter stick onto the end to extend it furtherSmile.

100% would not recommend!

I still have a large patch I just couldn't reach from two years ago......just as well I dont have many visitors who go upstairsGrin

I've just recently tried a paint pad instead of a roller and it was great. It came on a thing that looked like you could stick it on a pole. as it's square, you can run it along the edge of a wall and might be neater than a roller. No idea if it would work but just throwing it in the mix!

Thanks @avocuddl could be something I try on a normal height wall first and see how neat I am with it, thank you 😁

I use a long extendable pole with a brush securely taped to it. Its quite tedious to do but im able to cut in all the high bits this way..
