Nice but unusual accessories like glassware

I'm looking for unusual kitchen accessories like glassware (glasses, jugs), crockery etc.?
I have looked at John Lewis but it's either blank or not me (union jacks etc.) and other shops are merely functional.

Any recommendations to help me lift my kitchen?

Have a look at BrandAlley
I bought glasses from there...the ones with bee pattern in (can’t do links, sorry)

Oh excellent call - thank you!
I really like the Anthropology stuff but £16 a glass is a little steep for me.

Can I suggest checking out local craftspeople to where you live - you will need to shift your price bracket up a notch or 2. You could buy 1 or 2 statement pieces for crafts people - jugs are always very popular and have standard stuff for everything else and slowly build your collection. For handmade mugs your looking at £25 + and for jugs £35+

Check out charity shops for "vintage" styles and sizes and designs no longer sold. I've found some amazing things this was from cut glass sherry glasses to champagne coupes and various jugs

My favourite wine glasses came from a charity shop.
It is worth visiting charity shops in up market areas.
My friend bought a genuine antique emerald ring in one such place. I found a beautiful piece of solid mahogany furniture for a fraction of what it would have cost in a furniture store.
I love charity shops.

TK Maxx! Love, well, everything in there. Their halloween stuff is in too if you're into that kind of unusual. But if not, even their 'normal' range of stuff is different from the bog standard chain shops.

Maybe you can find something lovely here:

Have a look at Portmeirion. They have some lovely glassware

Hoist that website has some beautiful things, thank you for posting it! Hadn’t heard of them before.

Woodendollymix · 24/08/2020 16:01

I was also going to suggest TKmaxx, popped into a larger branch today and while it was not as well stocked as normal they did have a lot of glasswear. I got 2 very unusual shaped vases to put candles in

hoistbymyownzombiepetard · 24/08/2020 16:27

Glad you liked it @RudeAF

I am very sad that we don't live in the UK anymore - my bank balance is happier though Grin

They had one of those pop-up "shop" areas in Liberty a few years ago - all of their stuff is very desirable!

The online stores like Cox & Cox, Nkuku, Rowen & Wren often have these.

Also Zara Home, White Company, Loaf will all do handmade/“artisanal” pottery and glasses. H&M home possibly too.

RudeAF · 24/08/2020 16:37

I’m in London so I must look out for more pop ups! Intrigued by the vinegar cleaning gel.
And OP Oliver Bonas has decent glassware usually but I just had a peek and there’s not much choice right now, maybe because it’s sale time.

Just on Oliver Bonas I do think they've gone off the boil somewhat. DH bought me a necklace which broke immediately and I returned it for something else. It broke within two wears too. It made me nervous to buy anything at the moment - is the quality there?

Never had any issues with quality of the homeware, have had cushions, glasses, a lovely glass owl jug I’ve had for years, crockery. But overall I agree they aren’t as good as they used to be and the prices are shocking! Good sales though.

NewHouseNewMe · 24/08/2020 22:31

That's reassuring. I might pop down to see my nearest branch soon.
Thanks @RudeAF

I second TK Maxx/Homesense.
H&M home have some really nice pieces too that usually look far more expensive than they are.

I've got a few nice bits from Graham & Green
