We’re in the process of having a small extension and new kitchen. Kitchen still won’t be too large but will have a big pantry/utility. Is there anything in your kitchen you can live without? We really want a wine fridge so plan on having one of those and a spice drawer. Anything amazing that we’re missing out on?

For me it would be; induction hob, two eye height ovens, inbuilt bins (so hidden away), granite work surface (it’s indestructible and hot pans can be put down on it), a good quality dishwasher.

If budget allows, look at Miele appliances, they really are worth the money 😊

Make sure you have as much storage space as possible. Imho the only appliances that should be seen are those that are used daily or are too large to go in the cupboards. Apart from toasters which should always be hidden if possible! Clear workspaces are much easier to keep clean.

Thanks everyone I think I’ll have to look at a hot water tap for definite now and will take a look at those appliances thank you @Henlie

@ChilliBeanSauce - what does it involve having a water softener fitted? I think is something we’d both definitely be interested in.

We do have the option to have a large open plan kitchen, but we’re tempted with a smaller one as it allowed a decent size utility/pantry area. The larger kitchen would give us a better shape I feel but not sure it would be too big without an island and I’m not sure I want one?! We could do a horseshoe shape shorter on the one side as though it’s an opening to the dining area. I shouldn’t be given freedom to decide, I’m spending half my life on Pinterest.

Agree built in bind for recycling

I love my double dishdrawer - you can have one drawer on whilst other being filled so never get that 'dishes on the side as the dishwasher is on' thing

I love the baking cupboard!

Full height fridge and freezer would be on my list too

We have a water softener from Tapworks which our plumber recommended as he has the same system at home. It gets plumbed in at the mains and our water is flushed through the softener. If you live in an area with hard water the difference is absolutely incredible. Just need to make sure the natural salt rocks in the softener are kept at the minimum level.
