Just that, really. Am looking for some super low-maintenance house plants - would love a few different kinds. Thanks in advance. 😊

Cacti are pretty indestructible and there are lots of different sorts - not just the dumpy prickly ones!

I've got a few different ones from Hortology. The Aspidistra I always forget to water and whilst some of the others have suffered from my lack of care this one hasn't. I dust it occasionally when I remember and that's about it! The aloe Vera has done well too.

Thanks @RockingMyFiftiesNot - meant to say, I have quite a few cacti and do well with those, but I’ll look for some more interesting ones. Am really keen to get some more leafy plants, I think.

Ooh, thanks for those suggestions, @EnglishRain.

My yukka could be a show yukka it is very healthy and happy looking despite my 1 year old's attempts to remove leaves every day and my 3 year old's attempts to water it every few hours

Aspidistra is rather old fashioned but is known as the "Cast Iron Plant" for good reason.
Cacti and Aloes seem to thrive on neglect, as do my supermarket orchids (when I do remember to feed them, they almost always bloom)
Otherwise, maybe plastic ones are your best bet!

I love aspidistras!

If you are looking for plants that prefer underwatering to overwatering and don't need a great amount of light, look at types of ZZ plants and dragon plants.

Mother In laws tongue aka snake plant. It's impossible to kill unless you REALLY try.

Croutons are also fairly easy and rubber plants.

Swiss Cheese Plant (Monstera delicosa) is pretty tough. It doesn't need lots of light, is quite happy to be left in the same pot for years, and is forgiving of the odd forgotten watering. They do grow big, but you can tie the stems in against a cane if you prefer it to be more contained.

I have a spider plant that has died twice under my (forgetful) care... but it seems to have cat-like ability to return for another life and it is doing fine again with a bit of water and some more light.

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 03/08/2020 14:25

Spider plants, easy to take cuttings from too

I’ve had one peace lily for about 15 years. They droop when they need watering, so easy to tell.
Pothos also droop a bit when they need watering and can live with very little light.
Both are pretty indestructible ime.

ThickFast · 05/08/2020 21:06

Jade plants are easy. Hardly need watering and their leaves go shrivelled if they’re really parched. So it’s easy to tell.
