What to do with this front door?

So as you can see from the photo I have a glass front door. This can't be changed as it's a rented house. The issue I have is that the glass is clear, and although I've put some frosted film across the bottom half (mainly to stop my dogs peeping out) and there is a net curtain attached to the top and bottom rods, at night you can quite clearly see in. I'm on a main road and my neighbours who, although very nice, have to walk past my door to get to theirs. I live alone and am not too comfortable with people being able to see in at night - I just can't relax.
I was thinking of changing the net curtain for opaque fabric but then it would block out all the light in the day (there is only one other very small window).
Does anyone have any ideas for how to let light in during the day but have privacy at night? Maybe a curtain over the door is the obvious solution and I've just answered my own question Grin

You can get mirror film (not exactly sure what it's called) where you can see out but noone can see in, if you want to still let some light in. but yes a curtain is the other option!

I’d just put a curtain in the recess, a nice thick heavy one. Funnily enough ‘the range’ do adequate door panel curtains or you can get thermal ones on eBay - would probably help keep the draft out in winter too

@vinoelle not sure a curtain in the recess would work as then it would be tricky to open the door? But maybe a curtain outside the recess. I'll have to get my mum on the case with her sewing machine or maybe find a pair that are is long enough and just use one.

A blind or curtain would do it.

@Bluntness100 I hadn't thought of a blind! Maybe a Roman blind would be nice.

Blackout blind.

Mirror film will be a pain to put up unless you have it done professionally and then it’s expensive. I’d just fit a long blind and leave the light on.

Lace rather than net would let the light in and give more privacy I had one up at my bedroom I think it might be Laura Ashley. It is a panel of cream lace it might be cotton. In winter a thicker curtain outside the recess. I have just had the joiner put one in mine it is a brass rod. He was here doing lots of little jobs before he fits my new kitchen door so I asked if he would mind. It will make it much cosier in the winter and I only have half glass. Look out in second hand or charity shops for a velvet or thick weave material or ask your mum😁
