Using F&B for the first time, 3 coats in to painting over a cream and it’s obvious it’s going to need a 4th coat. We’ve never had to do more than 2 coats when using other brands even over strong colours. Is this normal?

We have it everywhere in the house.I agree it isn’t hardwearing. We have only ever used two coats.
I disagree that colour matching is the same or even similar. I tried that and the colour was nothing like F&B and neither was the finish.

I love how it applies as well. I normally paint our rooms myself and it's far nicer to use than other brands. We did get a decorator in to do our hallway and office and he said he loved the F&B that he used in the office and wanted it for his own home.

I think a lot of decorators get a trade discount for Dulux and other brands that they won't on F&B so I suspect that's why they encourage customers not to use it.

I've tried Dulux colour matching before and it's never worked out that well.

We've got Modern Emulsion in our kitchen and living room and both look really fresh a few years in. I've just put the Estate Emulsion in my office the other week so juries still out on that one.

I have just started using f&b after years of cheaper paint and I love it. I use an undercoat though. Our walls are awful and need replastering but we can't afford that. The matt f&b really improves the look and I love how it feels thick and smells less when you're using it too. We got really good coverage on bare plaster with lots of filler and random paint in parts and that was with 1 primer and 2 painted coats in a light colour too. The primer undercoat is really good.
