Painting entire house inside - colour advice?

We have decide every room will be a natural, off white shade. Think light mochas etc... but I’m just wondering if anyone here has advice on if we should keep the colours really similar from room to room, or exactly the same, or go for contrasts? We have a lot of art, huge textured canvases, large framed one off pieces, so a neutral ish background is important and neither of us like wallpaper or feature walls.
What do you think?

Same light neutral colour all the way through on all walls and woodwork with the colour coming from the art and the furniture. Makes the house look more spacious and more pulled together.

We just did this but used white. Easier to get another tin if you need to patch up or refresh. Also white emulsion is usually cheaper.

We used dulux natural Calico everywhere and in kitchen the washable version x

We used Dulux trade white (slightly off white, much softer than pure brilliant white) throughout - walls, ceilings, woodwork.

In previous house we did the same with Dulux Jasmine White - warmer, more creamy shade to offset more north facing light.

This is awesome, with the exception of the kids rooms (they want an off white pink tiny and an off white blue tint) we will likely stick to one colour then!

What about ceilings? I really don’t want to paint them...! They were done a year ago but I think it’s an off white, not white...

You’ll really notice it if you don’t paint the ceilings. I think they’ll look really dingy compared to freshly painted walls. It’s a lot more effort but will give a much better result.

We've just decorated the kitchen & dining room in Dulux Timeless which is a lovely soft shade of white (who knew there were so many shades of white??!) We did the ceiling in the same paint so it was a much easier job, I didn't have to be so perfect with cutting in etc. I absolutely love it and have decided that from now on as other rooms need doing I'll use the same colour and eventually have the whole house in Timeless. I'll use furniture and accessories to add colour and texture etc. It makes touch-ups so much easier too.

My entire house, walls and woodwork, are Timeless by Bulux, and ceilings brilliant white, even the children's rooms.
We have loads of art everywhere so it's far from boring.
Also, very easy to do touch ups as you know which paint to use.

OP, be careful with white-with-a-hint-of-blue - this is exactly what my parents have done, several times, and it's always looked grey and cold. Try out plenty of testers to find one that works in the room

Toilenstripes · 21/07/2020 19:20

Don’t paint your north facing house in a cool neutral. Keep it warm, even if it’s white.

Geranium01 · 22/07/2020 07:58

Dulux Cornflower White has a nice subtle blue tint to it, if that's helpful.

GemmeFatale · 22/07/2020 17:53

We did this in our old place. Dulux gentle fawn everywhere. Perfect colour for us so I’ve started using it here in our new place too

madroid · 24/07/2020 00:47

@Toilenstripes what colours would you recommend for north facing rooms? Do you think pale green would work?

Toilenstripes · 24/07/2020 09:39

@madroid for North facing rooms you’re better off using a colour that is on the warm end of that colours range. The warm end of the green range is olive and the cool end is more teal/turquoise. So, yes, you could use a light olive green in a north facing room. You’re looking for a green with a yellow undertone.

madroid · 25/07/2020 20:49

Thanks @Toilenstripes I look for an olivey green.
