Book storage for kids

I am really struggling to store all of the kids story books. We have them in a kallax at the moment but they end up reading the same ones every night because they can't flick through to see what they have.

Can I see your book shelves/units for kids?

How old are they? Are they under 8 or so?
The display bookcases/shelves are nice (where the book covers face out like in a shop window) but you can only fit so many! So I’d suggest keeping the kallax (or getting a new bookcase if you don’t like it for other reasons) and then buying 2-3 picture ledges (Ikea, B&M, etc) for a special book feature - you swap the books in the picture ledges every couple weeks.
Another idea is one of those large box things on wheels:

They have these in our local library, and the kids can see the covers. Ikea do a plain one, I think, but they’re an easy DIY project if you have a look in mind.

We've always just had Ikea Billy bookcases, DS has two 40cm wide by one metre high ones. Could you take out five books at random and have them pick one or something?

We have one of these link which works really well for large picture books.

Www.tidybooks.com all the way- excellent storage for outsize books and the cars take up very little floor space.

Sorry that's the USA site uk.tidybooks.com is for the U.K.

@minipie the link just took me to the gotcha website, which unit do you have for the large books?

Oh sorry! It’s the Rackham - we have set 3 which is the book tray plus bookshelf underneath, but you can get various different combinations which stack together.

The book tray is really good for letting them look through and choose books, it holds a lot, and if you get set 3 you can put extra books in the underneath bookshelf part so it’s easy to rotate those with the ones in the tray.

We have one from aldi a bit like the photo above but with a drawer for toy storage. I love it!

We have a mixture of a GLTC Greenaway bookcase, Ikea Bekvam spice racks painted and used as shelves, and an Ikea Flisat book display.
