Lining paper sadness - Piglet John?

We're having lining paper sadness and wondered if PigletJohn might be kind enough to view the state of it and offer advice on how sad it really is / whether it's salvageable. (Or whether we need to ask the painter to start again - costly option, and likely to annoy the painter too Confused).

There are hairline cracks in the paint in places, as well as the lining paper lifting. (I should add the room doesn't have damp issues.)

Any thoughts on prognosis for likelihood of it being rescued gratefully received!

I know. I'm wishing we'd waited now. Hmm We were tired of staring at these walls through lockdown, I think!

@annieareyouokhun

£90 per day is super cheap for a professional decorator. I'd expect to pay at least £130 upwards.
I'm definitely going to ask around and see what's usual for around here.

The 'problem' was he was a really nice chap - makes complaining even worse / more difficult.

I am now shielding my eyes and too scared to look to see if it's peeling again.

Ive just had a quote from our regular decorator to wallpaper one room up to picture rail height (about six rolls) and to paint three internal doors. £500. Your guy was extremely cheap

I've just decorated my bedroom in lockdown. My DS (22) furloughed and grass green when it comes to DIY, put the lining paper up (vertically) using YouTube videos.

The seams lifted in a few places. I bought some glue to fix this issue. It's not great but I can live with it, and compared to your chap, my DS hasn't done too bad!

£90 is very cheap indeed, but I'm in the South.

Horizontal lining paper is normal, used before wallpaper over the top normally. Wall rock is a better lining paper and as someone mentioned can be filled and sanded. I hope you haven'd handed over any money yet, whoever has done this is no decorator, you should barely, if at all be able to see any seams. 2 coats in one day is doable and theres nothing especially wrong with it but that lining paper is shocking. It is easier to hang vertically and shouldn't make a difference visually.

I am sorry this has happened to you
