Help me to Stacey Solomon organise my airing cupboard

Hi,

Just had a combi boiler fitted so now have tons more storage in my airing cupboard where the tank used to be. I've attached a picture, anyone help me of how I can organise it and ideas of any good storage boxes etc that I can label Stacey Solomon style?! It's quite deep and I don't want wasted storage at the back so no idea how to do it.

(Husband is ripping the old carpet bottom out and painting everything white today)

Thank you!

What are you putting in there?

Fold your towels the way they do in shops, it looks really swish; put your bed sets into the relevant pillowcases.

I put my sheets in zip up Ikea storage boxes so I can pull the whole lot out, get what I need and shove it back in (if I had piles of sheets and pillowcases I'd probably trash them.

I use the back of mine for our of season clothes, duvets, and it's a great place to hide Christmas presents too. Big long boxes for top shelves (ikea plastic komplement ones are the ones I have, I think)

The front is just for towels, bedding, etc. Toolbox and other diy stuff lives at the bottom. It's a huge space!

Those are great ideas thank you! I went to IKEA today and couldn't find the right boxes so those links and names are great thank you!

It's mainly for towels, bedding etc but I like the idea of putting out of season clothes too. I have a little boy so the Christmas present storage idea will also be great at the top! Smile

If you were Stacey Solomon you would paint it all white!

I would take out those slatted shelves and replace with shallower shelves that go round the 3 inner walls of the cupboard. So it’s more of a walk in space. Also have them spaced closer than those current shelves are. You could re-use the slats for the new shelves.

Put stuff you use less often (seasonal duvets/spare pillows/ blankets etc) in the higher up shelves. These can be deeper shelves.

Then just sort your towels by size and start stacking them on the new shelves.

On another shelf have bed linens stored by size and in “rooms”.

On the floor- depending on what you need to store there- bulky stuff like toilet rolls, a box with cleaning products. If necessary get an over door ironing board holder.

Agree with paint it white and put a motion sensor light in it.

Yes to a light, surprising how dark it gets in there!

I've got old/spare duvets, pillows and towels at the back and top of mine, then the fronts have beach towels, normal towels, sheets for the beds (I think each bed has 2 full sets, one on, one in the cupboard plus a few older sets for sleepovers and emergencies!).

All folded v neatly and in their sets (so each bathroom has its towels and bath mats in one pile each, each bed has its own bedding in a pile etc), so it's very easy to pull out exactly what I need and when. I have been told I have one of the neatest airing cupboards around (I don't think it's THAT special 😂).

I would have loads of shelves as it’s much easier to keep or organised that way. No need to pull things from the bottom and then tidy up what’s left.

Deep is bad - stuff gets lost at the back. I've just sorted out my Mother's airing cupboard.

She had stuff in under bed storage boxes which were all labelled but they were stacked on the shelves and it was really awkward - I've suggested she put in more shelves - one for each layer of storage boxes.

My own "airing cupboard" is a kallax unit - nothing gets lost at the back - although you do have to fold stuff carefully to fit it in.

@EmmaStone please show a picture! This cupboard sounds amazing!
