Inspired by the Navy curtain thread. I want to decorate my living room would I be mad to buy a plain Navy wallpaper with slight glittery thread through it for the wall behind the dining table, grey emulsion on all other walls, navy curtains, then navy, grey and blush pink or rose cushions, pink throws, vase etc? What colour rug? I need new lamp shades or fittings also. I have solid oak furniture and a new grey corner sofa
The room is a good size 4m wide by 6m long with high cellings at 2.8m with good light through a set of large French doors.

You can certainly use those colours together, although the blush is already dated. Orange or coral is a fabulous colour to use with navy. You will want to ‘layer’ the room by introducing textures, which you can do with a throw blanket, art work, lampshades and rugs. Your rug will need to be multi-coloured, to tie the other colours together. Morrisandco have some great rugs.

Thank you, I like ochre/mustard and I like Heather colours as well but I think mustard might be on the way out.

I like all those colours and don't think blush is dated at all although I do agree orange does go well with dark blue. Not keen on mustard yellows etc

I would say the grey is more dated, it's getting to the so ubiquitous it's undesirable stage whereas blush is not this year's colour but is still pretty fashionable. Navy is on the button though, only mint green would be more current Grin.

And speaking of green I'd go pink, navy and green rather than grey.

Colours don't date if you like them. Following decorating trends is absolutely bizarre. You have to look at it every day so just go with the colours you like.

Go for the colours you love, forget about what dates.

Style is timeless. What you suggest sounds good to me.

Yeah I agree all your ideas sound lovely and so do the suggestions on this thread. when it comes to fashion in the house although I do agree colours and schemes do go in and out of fashion and it is nice to aim to follow them it would be very expensive to keep re decorating your house to follow fashions so just go with what you like now Smile

Following decorating trends is absolutely bizarre.

My grandmother had a pink bathroom suite, my Mum had a navy one, I have a white one. In the 1940s houses still had dark painted wood but white is dominant now(although colour is coming back). 20 years ago how many of us were using grey in our houses, now it is as ubiquitous as magnolia once was. We all follow the decorating trends, just at different paces.

Colour completely dates things. 70s were brown and orange. Not much of that now.

Am hoping the dark blue phase will edge out the grey and griege.

Your design sounds very well thought out op.
