Ideas to Cover up an Internal window.

we are planning to pull down our old conservatory and build a single story extension, with sky lights, and use this room as a dining/entertaining room, the only problem is our bedroom is downstairs and the window to our bedroom will be in the extension, not sure if im explaining this well, if i went to my window in my bedroom and opened by curtains, the view would be of the new dining room, we cannot completely blocked the window as it will be our fire escape etc. i would like to be able to sit in the dining room and not have to look at the big window. we originally thought we would cover it with the film sheets so we cannot see our bedroom etc, but i think having a window full stop will look out of place and ugly, so im trying to think of ways to cover it, for example a mirror or room divider/screen thing, anyone else have any ideas what we can do?

Get a massive canvas picture from ikea or wayfair or somewhere. They will be big enough to cover it

A Picture.

Shutters.

Nice material in drapes.

Stained glass window so you can't see through.

I have just had another idea. Leave the window but put an electronic picture frame behind it so you can have views of beautiful places while you eat.

@Lorddenning1Is this the only window in your bedroom? If so, it's going to be very dark in there all day if you block it. I once stayed in a converted stable block guest house with a bedroom that had only an internal window that was heavily curtained. And though yes you only sleep in it, it really gave the room a really dank and dark feel, even though was lovely decor.

I’d have shutters also. Else the view from your bedroom will be rather shit. Or the view from the dining room, or you need a pic either side, Shutters are simpler.

You can also then open and close them when you see fit.

But then all she sees is the back of it from her bedroom. Which isn’t exactly ideal.

I think the shutters are probably the better idea as like you say I can open and close them when I need to, it didn't even occur to me by putting a big canvas over the window that it would make the room dark 🤦🏼‍♀️ my OH wants to take the window out and put a single glass door, but I'm not keen on that idea
