Green or white kitchen?

Grainedesesame · 21/05/2020 05:38

I'm torn between a green (F&B duck green/ studio green) or white kitchen (F&B pointing) for our kitchen. The factory is matching F&B colour so I'm not sure what will be the result exactly. Any recommendations much appreciated?

White.

I find that green oppressively dark.

I think it depends on how much light is in your kitchen. Personally I prefer a light coloured kitchen in my house because the kitchen faces southwest and is warm and light.

Green is my favourite colour by far, so I would go for green.

White is very 'standard'
Keep in mind though that if you might sell your home in a few years, a non standard coloured kitchen such as green in this case might have a negative impact on the price of your home, not everyone likes green.

I think the green is much too dark. I would go for white. You could have the green on the walls if you wanted then it would be easier to change if it was to dark.

I've got green. Love it. No regrets

CountFosco · 21/05/2020 06:08

I painted every room in our last house white and am working my way through doing the same in this house. However, we have just decorated one bathroom in dark blue and I love it and keep wondering about going dark in one sitting room (whether is white). Green is beginning to appear in all the high end stuff so I'd be tempted to go for that, will look fresh for a while yet.

Are you painting the units or the whole room? Green if it’s just the units. White if it’s whole room

dudsville · 21/05/2020 06:29

White it's easier on the eye, but basic and a but 90s. The green is stunning but not standard so it will get strong reactions.

I would love a green kitchen. If you are planning to stay in the house a while, I would go for green.

We have gone for white for our new kitchen because it is a north facing room/ we don’t plan to be here long term and I think green is a bit marmite.

Flamingolingo · 21/05/2020 06:36

Is this DIY kitchens? Our kitchen came from them and was great, but we had a couple of issues and had to get replacements (one our fault, one theirs) and I was glad I chose from their standard colours because I think getting replacements would have taken longer with custom paint

OliviaBenson · 21/05/2020 06:45

Have you colour cards at home? I love that green but got a sample at home and it just looked a drab horrible really dark sludge colour.

You need to be sure what colour it will look in your light at home.

That said, I'd have a different green for my kitchen if that didn't work!

WildCherryBlossom · 21/05/2020 07:00

I love the green! It's refreshingly different.

RestorationInsanity · 21/05/2020 07:46

We've just had a dark green kitchen put in (howdens fairford) and we love it! The reaction from others has been overwhelmingly positive. The caveat is we have French doors, skylight and huge window, the room is painted very pale off white and has a high ceiling. We don't have many wall cupboards, plus some additional freestanding dressers/built-in cupboards that are wooden and break up the green.

VenusClapTrap · 22/05/2020 07:52

I like the green.

Grainedesesame · 26/05/2020 07:03

Thank you all for your help. I will share picture once it's all done!

One wall green and the rest white?

Early morning and green walls can feel a bit like you are cooking inside someone's hangover.
