Wallpaper seams

Had a 5m wall wallpapered yesterday. In the light there is a look of sheen at the joins. Presumably from paste. Last night I tried to wipe it off and I think that has helped but not eradicated the problem.

Will it sort itself out or do I need to get the surplus paste at the joins off?

Also it took him a day to paper one 5m wall, does that seem right. I thought he might do two walls in that time.

My SO wallpapered a 5m wall, in 3hrs. No previous experience.

So I would expect 2 walls at least in a day

Coving is going up so that's why there is a space

When I had wallpapering done at my house she was getting the full room done in a day.
So 2 double bedrooms took 2 days.
Sounds like he likes to make his money if you ask me!

We had the same problem a few years ago. We thought it was paste on the seams.
The technical department of the wallpaper manufacturer explained that it was excessive rubbing on the seams. We stripped the wallpaper (9 rolls) paid a professional decorator to hang the paper, the finished job was perfect.

Thanks 'Going to Town' but I'm hoping that isn't the case

Goingtotown, you were correct... not excess paste, excess rubbing at the seams

Folicky Sorry to hear that. I hope the “decorator” acknowledges that it’s his fault & refunds you. You need to find someone with experience to hang the paper.
