DS1 is 2 and still has a very baby-ish room, due DS2 this summer and have decided to give DS1 a "big boy" room make-over so we can use the baby furniture for spare bedroom/baby room.

Not the biggest of bedrooms but does have a children's size wardrobe and very small chest of drawers plus his bed and a few toys, bit of an awkward shaped room so was hoping to replace both the chest of drawers and wardrobe with a large chest of drawers from ikea , think 6-8 drawers , allowing more space to toys and books etc.

Finally to the point , am I going to find it a massive PITA having no hanging space for his tops/hoodies? Currently have vests , pyjamas and underwear in the drawers (again very small - 3 tiny drawers) and tops / hoodies/jackets in wardrobe with trousers folded in a basket at the bottom of the wardrobe. Does it mean I'm going to have to iron more? I loathe ironing Sad

Appreciate this is a very dull and unimportant topic during all that's going on but I have so much time on my hands to plan home decorating Grin

I think you will be fine. Roll clothes instead of fold. I find hangers annoying for hoodies. You could get pegs for any hangables. Id also just buy enough clothes, like 7 sets of outfits.

You will find this a pita as he gets older. Can you not fit a wardrobe in the room? How about a tall boy style on with drawers underneath?

What about the ikea stuva wardrobes that you can have drawers in the bottom and then a 4 x 1 galaxy for toys. The stuva range is for kids but deep enough to fit adult hangers in.

I think get a full height/width wardrobe, but hang the rail half way down so he can reach it...
Then put shelves/cubes above. We have this arrangement and it works well, along with 3 small drawers for underwear and pyjamas. But definitely fix the wardrobe to the wall.

I like most things on hangers. It also helps with organising school uniform as you can get multi-hangers so a full day's uniform can be stored/brought out in one go.

Will have a look at the stuva range , thanks!

Uniforms! Hadn't even thought that far ahead. Just as well I asked here first as I know I'll hate not having somewhere to hang them.

Have just realised my previous post says a galaxy for toys, I meant kallax! Hmm

There I was thinking ‘Gosh, she must know really obscure parts of IKEA’s range’.Grin
