Where to buy curtains

Cakecrumbs · 09/02/2020 09:11

Hoping to get some ideas as haven't been inspired by any of the curtains I have seen in the places I have tried so far.
I have tried
Dunelm
John Lewis
Next
Laura Ashley

Where else can I look online, need to kit out a whole new house and looking for good quality, heavy and soft feeling curtains!
Also a specific request - looking for a grown up animal print for a bedroom if anyone has seen any!
Thanks!

The Range?

I looked everywhere for my last set, and the Range actually had the widest variety- I'm pleased with the quality too.....

I would never buy ready made curtains as I think they look cheap. Can you find some wonderful fabric and a local curtain maker?

Planningchanged · 09/02/2020 09:55

My favourite curtains came from IKEA. I love them, and they’re really good quality.

Thanks, will look at those options.
I always thought that made to measure curtains would work out really expensive. Is this not the case? I'd love to choose my own fabric and get them made! I don't actually have a clue what price per metre is a reasonable price for fabric that will mean the curtains don't end up costing a fortune Blush

Made to measure from Curtains2Go. You can get free material samples delivered for free. Measuring guides are great and the quality is excellent.

Julian Charles often have curtains on offer

Curtains 24/7 online

They are more expensive than shop brought but no overly so.

Are you in the North West, by any chance?

Cakecrumbs · 09/02/2020 17:34

Thanks for all the ideas. Will have a look at the suggestions.
HollowTalk - no, unfortunately not!

Can you sew OP? Curtains aren difficult to make. It's all straight seeing. The maths is trickier than the sewing but still fairly straightforward. Lots of you tube videos with instructions. Keeps the cost down and the fabric choice is vast.

I've used Curtains 2 go, after searching everywhere for something I liked. They're really good quality and measuring was easy.
Good selection of fabrics and decent size swatches.

I can't sew but I would love to learn! I did look for sewing classes near me but didn't find any

I used a second hand curtain shop near me for most of my curtains because I couldn't afford nice quality ones - the ones from the shop are great, very good quality and about 20% of the price of new - have you got a similar shop near you op?

If you've got any time (which can, of course, be more precious than money!) I would try and learn to sew. Making your own curtains is easy and cost effective, particularly when you start adding lining, interlining, unusual fabrics, etc.
