Hi, we are at the end stage of home buying process and am confused about double size bed will fit or not , room size is 2.8m×2.8m. Please give me some suggestions.

Is this going to be a guest room? If so what about a trundle bed- single that can be a large double for guests if necessary.

Thats the size of one of our bedrooms and we can easily get a double bed in it. Depends how the door opens ans where its positioned but a standard double bed (well the mattress) is 1.4m x 2m. If you add on a few cm for the actual bed frame, easily doable. Obviously means there is not much room for much else, other than maybe bedside tables and a small / slim chest of drawers / wardrobe and you may need to position the bed closer to a wall than you would in a bigger bedroom.

@Nearlyadoctor we want to use this as guest room as well as my daughter room.

It will fit but the door may not open properly and you'll not have much room for much else. No cat swinging.

@Africa2go this was how it looked when we went to see the house . I am planning to place the bed vertically but not sure how much space it gonna take.

@Madisonha - then a trundle would seem ideal as your daughter would have the extra space in her room when the trundle wasn’t in use. May be worth investigating Smile

It looks like the max is 2.8m x 2.8m - less the cut out. If the bed abutts the wall, looks like the top wall is about 2m, and the bottom wall is 2m, plus a door width (standard is about 78cm), so 2.8m.

I think a trundle is a good shout, except they're invariably wider than a standard double bed when both beds are pulled up as you effectively have 2 x singles (we have the IKEA Hemnes daybed).

I think it depends what your daughter needs - if she needs a desk / wardrobe etc, its going to be hard to fit in a double bed.
