Why should I choose a trade paint...

...rather than pick up an ordinary paint from B&Q?

I am looking at painting my living room with Sapphire Salute but can see there are different versions in the DIY stores to Dulux Decorator online.

The trade ones are more expensive. Has anyone used both types in a strong colour, do you think the coverage/colour is better?

Thanks in advance.

A bump for the midweek decorating aficionados. Grin

No idea but we have Sapphire Salute and love it!

We just bought the Dulux bog standard paint though. No idea what the trade one is like. We do buy white paint in Trade as you just get bigger quantities.

Because it covers much better, that's why decorators use the trade version.

Better coverage.

I always use trade stuff, goes on better and is thicker so less costs needed and less mess. X

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz I can’t wait until it is done! Thanks all.

No idea on the trade version but I too have sapphire salute in my bedroom and it's beautiful!

Wonder why they even sell a non trade version then

Trade paint seems to be tougher than the normal stuff, I'd always go with trade.

Profits. People buy more to get a good coverage.

decorators can water down the trade versions and they obviously come in larger quantities for multiple jobs

many also have a built in primer unlike your off the shelf dulux

Coverage is much better with the trade paints which means that not only do you need less paint, but also it’s quicker to get it done as you need fewer coats.

I'd never use anything other than trade paint now after using both. I painted my banister in non trade paint and it went yellow within a year. Re-painted using trade paint and it's still white after 2 years... Same with walls, colour still fresh after 3 years and it was easier and thicker to cover walls in the first place. I'd never go back to non trade now...
