Day/night blinds solution - help!

Hi. Help needed! Does anyone have a fabulous solution for day/night blinds that offer more or less complete blackout at night and are completely sheer in the day? We are very overlooked and currently have muslin "nets" during the day, which work well but get tatty/marked easily and plus I hate the wire/hook combo!

We have to find something for 4 bedroom windows which all need to be the same. One window is very wide at just over 250cm, which makes many blind options tricky, although we would be prepared to pay extra to have this made bespoke if necessary. Also, we don't want any curtains or roman blinds, so whatever we have needs to look kind of "finished" and not as if something is missing (like a curtain!) IYSWIM.

We sort of like day/night zebra blinds but they don't offer enough privacy at night - when the lights are on there is a "Tales of the Unexpected" style shadow issue - minus the dancing! Also, DP not at all keen on the stripey style.

We all love the double roller blind day/night but it would be very tricky at the extra wide window to have double the weight of blinds. Also, I wonder about the blinds flapping in the breeze as the bedroom windows are open year round, even if just a notch. And I'm guessing you can't have anything on the windowsills either. Nevertheless the DC especially think these are fab!

These duo pleated type ones look OK but I have sent off for samples and they are very papery and cheap feeling and look like awful dust gatherers too.

None of us like vertical blinds.

Final option is white venetians, which we have downstairs as a "temporary" solution (9 years and counting!) These are OK but just OK. They are ubiquitous around here - either those or white shutters - and it would just be nice to have something different. Plus they are not great for blackout. One DC has them now and tends to wake up too early with the morning light.

So, can anybody help? We are currently decorating all the bedrooms one by one and pretty soon are going to be at "blankets at the window" stage!

The house is 1960s, so generally big windows with decent light, and decor is fairly modern, probably about 90% IKEA! Also, you can probably tell from my links that we are hoping to make this reasonably affordable. As I said, would be willing to go bespoke for the very big window. In our previous place we had Luxaflex blinds, which were fab, but we can't afford them this time round.

All help/advice very gratefully received!

Why blinds? Why not curtains over blinds?

A few reasons.

We have curtains now, left by the previous owners. They are fairly neutral in colour and yet still seem to dominate the rooms, I guess because the windows are quite big. The very wide windows upstairs and down look as though we have a theatre and are about to put on a show. I was hoping blinds in the recess would be less gathered material and therefore a sleeker look.

DCs and DP have dust allergies, which don't go particularly well with curtains - lots of flapping of dust.

And when we took DS curtains down to decorate, he practically gasped with joy and said he never wanted curtains again! To be fair, his room is fairly small with a double aspect and does look absolutely transformed. This has had a knock-on effect and now everyone wants to be rid of curtains!
