Home decoration

Not strictly 'home' but am kitting out an office and could do with some guidance e.g. wood floor vs laminate

So, overseeing design/decor of a small office (max 5 people) and would like to canvas some opinions on the decisions I'm about to make!

LIGHTING

  • I'm thinking spot lights throughout because they'll be cheap/energy efficient and won't require extra cleaning like a pendant light. But, ceilings aren't high and I wonder if they might look a bit stark and you might end up needing extra desk or floor lighting, which could just clutter a small office

FLOORING

  • the office would suit a light-medium coloured wood floor and a few people have recommended good quality laminate e.g. Karndean while the builder is pushing for engineered wood. Looking online, with a January deal the engineered would wouldn't be that much more, probably a couple of hundred. Hardwood flooring would be around double the cost of engineered as far as I can tell. There is money in the budget for hardwood if it'll look a tonne better and wear well in the long run but I know there are going to be additional costs elsewhere so trying to make savings were possible and wondering if this is one of the possible areas. Would love to hear views...

Also, any general pointers when it comes to office planning? Look forward to hearing any thoughts. Thank you :)

I would have engineered over laminate and hard wood it’s hard wearing less movement and it is considerably cheaper than hardwood and gives you the same finish in the end. Here is a recent floor I did
