Paint that is NOT grey.

Hi hi,

I need to re paint my kitchen walls. Had some work done and we now have white shaker cabinets with a white veined quartz worktop, backsplash and up stands. No tiles. We will have a black floor when that gets put in. Now the kitchen looks out onto a wall so isn't overly light, although we have plenty of lighting.

I am conscious that I want to keep the kitchen light but don't want grey and while white is a possibility I am wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Also, how do you choose paint from samples? I like the ideas of colours that are mostly white but when they're on the wall, there is a hint of colour. On samples, they tend to just look white though. Hard to tell.

TIA

We recently painted out kitchen walls in China Clay (Little and Green). It's a very very pale pink. We kept one wall white but wanted something other than white on the walls with white cabinets. We like it Smile

What colours do you like? Farrow and Ball have a range of whites with different bases which would meet your need. Ie, pink base or green base. We are about to do our hallway in School House White which is a green base and will complement 2 walls which will be wallpapered in a geometric teal.

Thanks both. I think it would be a tall order bringing my husband round to pink...

"What colours do you like?" - This is the root of the problem because I can't think of anything and keep coming back to boring whites and greys but DH wants colour. He likes blue, like a strong colour but light at the same time. I really hate pastels and baby blue/baby pink etc. Plus I want a warm colour.

I’d go for a warm colour too
Duly soft stone or Crowne powdered clay would add depth and warmth (tell your DH they’re terracotta not pink Wink)

You could try using one of the visualizer apps in conjunction with samples painted on quite large squares of lining paper to get a more accurate impression.
