Hello, my neighbour have put up Christmas lights. I love this time of year and I love Christmas lights, well as long as they dont flash. I'm photosensitve and they fast flashing lights can cause me to have a seizure. On top of that I have normal light sensitivity, prescription dark glasses. These are well known in my neighbourhood as the kids make fun or are afraid of me for it. (my teens use this fact to get the neighbour kids to not come round). They won't turn them down and have had to take time off work so I'm in when it's dark and I cant leave my front door. Any advice ? Oh I had the same problem a few years ago and housing and environment health did nothing.

That’s awful OP. Could you ask them to switch them off between 7.30 and 8am and 5.30 and 6pm when you are coming in and going out to work?

Could you make your glasses even darker somehow? Wear a visor if some sort. Go the other way down the street.

How do you manage past other people’s lights as they are everywhere at this time of year?

Hello Eliza, thank you for responding. I spoke to them and they turned up the speed for the lights. As I live in a little close and stuck in the corner I have to pass their lights. The people directly opposite me were lovely about it, even though I have never spoken to them before, and put their lights to a solid light.

Though my neighbours spoke to another neighbour and they put the light on fast too.

My glasses are the darkest shade but I am very very lucky. Way luckier than most like me. As I live on the outskirts of my town as walk through a side street (well more country lane) no houses to catch my bus, only gas station at the corner. Then I shrink in my seat and watch Netflix. The windows are so wet from the heating on the bus it acts as a barrier. So the only time I see any Christmas light in my little close

That’s lousy that you have to suffer with that condition OP. At least you have a strategy to cope with it. And Christmas will be over in a few weeks and normality will reign again!
