Window above radiator - what length curtains?!

Ok so 7.5 years after moving in we are finally Blush updating our living room / dining room curtains! They are basically the same room and on the same wall as open plan.

The living area window is above a radiator, but I want ‘ceiling’ to floor curtains as they will look so much better... DH is having none of it as says it will trap all the heat from radiator. Absolute valid point but there’s only a couple of inches between window and top of radiator so I think it’ll look a bit rubbish...

Has anyone had this, what would you do?!

PS if anyone knows where I can get velvet peacock coloured curtain please let me know (length TBD Wink!). Hilary’s quote was £1k a pair, gulp!

Try blinds2go / curtains2go

They are so much cheaper than Hilarys and excellent customerservice

They are also MUCH better quality. I would never use Hilary's again.

I would go for long curtains and blinds, but definitely long curtains.

roman blind and long curtains for dressing only - just kept open basically. at least in the winter when radiator on.

this has been my dilemma OP! I can't face doing it - the DIY, etc but I suppose I will have to.

Also I have low ceilings and long curtains - even if only dress ones that are rarely drawn - make the ceilings look higher.

I must get round to it.

One day. Maybe January 2020 project?! Grin

Ive always had floor length curtains and just tucked them behind the radiator when i close the curtains, the heat stays in the house.

Floor length. Buy curtains from homesense/TK Maxx. Add Venetian blinds for privacy and still get the benefit of the heat from the radiator when it's on.

I also hate short curtains. YUK!

And second the blind for use and show curtains. And of course you could make a saving by having them made using less material as you wouldn't need to pull them.
