Going from white walls to dark blue / navy

After 8 years of all white we are repainting the downstairs of our house. It is a 1930s semi with lots of period features and quite minimalist. However, despite my best efforts it never looks "pulled together" so I am thinking of going navy walls in the sitting room and living room (one north facing the other south) and grey / white in the hall (north facing with a striped stair runner)

Am I mad? Will I hate it? I have some nice original 1930's pieces of furniture and velvet sofas (more modern look) and pale original floorboards.

Thanks for any feedback from those who have done this.

Update ladies - I did it!! And it is totally fabulous.

We went Hague Blue in sitting room and family room including skirting and doors but with white ceilings,

We went Stiffkey Blue in dining room and one wall of Kitchen (behind our cooker) with white skirting
Blackend on the rest of the kitchen (TBH this is the only colour I am unhappy with - I thought it would have more colour, it looks white).

Hall - Plummet (deep grey) on the walls, milk teeth (pure white) on wood, and stairs.

It is exactly like the house I found on Pinterest which I adored. I keep pinching myself that it is my house, and not some cool person's house that I am visiting!!! And now all of the antiques sparkle.

Finally, one weird note, everyone who has visited has said it is fab, and that it was a brave choice (!!????!!!). I really don't understand the anxiety about colour and I wish I had been "brave" years ago.

The latest trend for dark colours is just a manipulation by paint companies, linked to designers and retailers. They must be desperate to convince people to drastically change their walls, furniture, bedding etc to coordinate with this look. Watching the ‘house buying’ programs the first thing that everyone says seems to be ‘lovely and light and airy’ Think about how many coats of paint you may need when the next inevitable fashion is thrust upon us!

You could say that about any trend though! Especially stuff like artex.
