My son has a tiny room so thinking a Hugh sleeper may help but I’m not sure how long I’ll get out of it. He’s 7 now. Show me what you’ve done with high or mid sleepers in tiny rooms? And advise if you’re happy with them or regret them please!

Nephew, 12, has this one in his bedroom. He's had it a few years. Initially, he didn't use the desk attachment - he used the area under the bed for storing boxes of toys. Now the desk is used for doing homework and storing his laptop etc.

Ds (9) has the Ikea kura midi sleeper. He has a desk that slides in under the end of the bed so he pulls it out as he needs it. He has a couple of small drawer stacks under it too for toys and bits and bobs. Recently got a folding mattress in Aldi that he uses as a comfy corner which he can use for friends sleeping over too.

Dd (10) used to have a mid sleeper, it was against 2 walls and was a pain in the arse to change the sheets every week.
It had a desk and a bookcase underneath, the desk was mainly used for hoarding rubbish, but she did use the bookcase.
She decided when she was 9 that she wanted a double bed, as she was sick of climbing up steps to get into bed. So that's what we did, and tbh I haven't ever looked back.

I regret getting my DS a mid sleeper bed.

I missed out on sitting on the end of his bed at night for impromptu chats before he went to sleep because it meant I had to climb up the step ladder and climb onto his bed.

And as they get older most children use their bed as a sofa, sitting area for friends to sit on, homework area, and don’t always use a desk and chair anyway, particularly as they have phones, iPads etc.

As he got older we took the extension legs off the bed to make it normal height, and put lots of storage shelves above his bed instead. We now have his wardrobe in our bigger bedroom, and he now has more room for his desk and storage.

I'm so torn as he wants one to try and improve his cupboard of a room but the height doesn't appeal but not does blocking off s window with it. Hmmm. Tricky. Guess I asked for pics at wrong time of day too! I had a cabin bed as a teen and hoarded loads of junk but did like it until around 14

Positives:
Great for small rooms
Can get storage/desk/sofa underneath

Negatives:
A PITA to change the sheets
Not able to lie down with them
Them hitting their head on the ceiling as they get bigger
And the worse one... sick from that height really splatters EnvyEnvyEnvy
