How to warm up a cold room

My bedroom is in the basement (I have an upside down apartment with the living room and kitchen on the raised ground floor and two bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs). It it is cold in the summer - above the cellar, so cold air is circulating underneath - and one wall gives onto solid earth as we are at the end of our apartment block. This wall is particularly cold. There is not much sunlight as the window gives onto the garden wall. I only get direct sun at the end of the day. It also feels slightly damp in summer when there is no heating on although I don't think there is any structural damp - it's more related to the structure and position (also next to the bathroom which doesn't have an outside window).

So: what can I do to make it warmer and cosier? I am thinking about getting wall-to-wall carpet (I currently have parquet and a couple of small rugs). What do you think? Also, would there be any kind of wall covering I could use to warm up the end wall?

Any thoughts and suggestions welcome.

I think I'd go for blush/ coral/ peachy pink tone to warm it up.

Carpet would be great to make it feel cosy, and I think lighting would make a huge difference. Using lamps, bedside and on dressing table/desk with a warm toned bulb will make the room cosy. Try to avoid a central ceiling light as they tend to look a bit harsh.

There are some beautiful wallpapers you can get that look like paintings or murals which could look lovely too

Thanks, I think you are right about a warm colour on the walls. It's currently plain white. Will have a think about lighting and wallpapers too.
