Mixing Paint

Hi,

I've made a bit of a mistake regarding paint colour for my feature wall in my kitchen (I need to ideally make it lighter) and I have already bought the paint in a sale a few months ago so cannot return.
Can anyone tell me please - is it possible to mix the paint with a white paint to make it lighter or would it be far too much hassle? If anyone has done this - how did you do it - did it work or did it look uneven?

I'm sure it must be possible... as long as you mix it in properly? The only issue would be if you ever need to touch it up - you would need to measure exactly how much white you have added to be able to replicate your customised colour.... I once viewed a house where the walls were a lovely warm colour - the owner said she used white with 5 drops (or something!) of gold!

We've mixed paint colours at home regularly, just add white to colour and mix really really well. Use a drill with a paint mixer attachment if you have one, it's like a big whisk.

Our decorator does this, the key is getting the proportions right so you get a uniform colour.

I had some leftover sky blue and fancied a nice light green in another room, and got that by mixing it with white. Remember that most whites will have a good amount of yellow in them, so that might affect the resultant shade.
