Hi everyone, I'm planning a new kitchen and I wondered if anyone had any experience of Corian. If you have, would you recommend? Any downsides? Many thanks

I totally misread this as 'Corgi-an' worktops. Thought you were coming to ask if anyone had covered their kitchen work surfaces in pictures of corgis... Grin

LOVE my Corian worktop. It looks like granite but feels softer, warmer. It's so easy to keep clean and looks amazing! Definitely worth the expense

Thanks for the replies! May I ask how long you've had your worktop @gokartdillydilly

I absolutely love mine. Love the seamless joint between the worktop and the splash back. Easy to keep clean and still looks great after 2 years.

Really pleased with my worktops. I had wood before which was hard work to keep looking good. Corian keeps its looks with little or no effort.

It's great but it scratches easily (you need to use chopping boards for knife work) and it doesn't like hot pots. Get an integrated Corrian sink - no edges for stuff to build up in. Have had it in various kitchens and always go back to it.

amazing picture! @tomboytown
I have just been looking online at the integrated sink too @youmeandconchitawurst - do you think it's better than a butler or Belfast sink?

Thanks again everyone for responding

@balonzz
About 10 years OP. Still good as new :-)

My kitchen guy recommended to get the stainless steel bottoms because of staining and the boiling water tap. My brother had corian sink, 2 years old and it seems fine, so no idea how good tge advice is, But I like the ss bottoms

tomboytown · 26/06/2019 01:17

Just about see them!

Definitely better than a butler's or Belfast sink. You can drop stuff and it doesn't break! I've only ever had the full Corian sink, no ss bottom. You can get stains off with barkeepers friend. I haven't got a boiling tap though! I actually prefer the rounded edge ones to the straight edge in your picture (not at home so no pics sorry).

Also check what edges you want - you can get a rounded edge or a bull (?) And a softened 90 degree edge. They're not all the same price!

You've all been most helpful. You never get the full picture from the salespeople.

Our Corian worktop is probably 30 years old.It looks like marble and though there is some staining and scratching it still looks fine. No plans to replace it. (Or the hand built solid wood units or a similar age.)

@Tomboytown lovely kitchen and is the look i am going for. Can i ask what colour is the base of the island? I have to pick a navy from a large range and finding it overwhelming, not sure if yours is navy or black.
Thanks

tomboytown · 02/08/2019 15:30
