Where to keep dressing gowns?

We have just replaced our bedroom doors, but the new ones aren't suitable to put a hook on for dressing gowns. I need suggestions for how I can store them so they are handy, but not just in a heap in the floor (which was pretty much DH's suggestion)

I keep a spare dressing gown in the bathroom, but that is (sadly) downstairs, so isn't handy to grab if someone knocks on the door first thing in the morning.

Where do you keep dressing gowns that isn't on the bedroom door or the bathroom door?

We have door hooks that hang over the top of the door. There is no other solution as convenient for dressing gowns!

Mine is on a very lovely hook on the wall. It's like an antique brass hook and looks lovely whether the dressing gown is on it or not.

Hook over the top is a brilliant suggestion. Nowhere else will cut it!!

Mine goes on hooks inside my wardrobe.

My DC each have a free standing coat/hat stand (it’s a kids one from ikea) just inside their door and it holds their dressing gowns as well as other hoodies etc.

You could get a grown up version, they sell them in IKEA. Space depending of course.

Oooh, I'd forgotten about the over the door hangers. I will definitely check out Tiger next time I'm in town. If not a hook next to the door could work, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks all!

Ours are in hooks inside the hotpress.

MrsRhubarb · 23/06/2019 16:49

X post with @LoveYourHome9. We have one of the IKEA stands for the kids coats and bags, it always seems to be overflowing with so much stuff you can never hang anything on it, no matter how often I declutter it. I can totally imagine a bigger one ending up the same. Inside the wardrobe door is also a really good idea, but I already have jewellry hangers on ours. When we get a new bigger wardrobe that is an option though.

@Onynx, one of so many reasons I miss having a hotpress/airing cupboard!

You could also put a hook on the inside of the wardrobe door...

Passthecake30 · 23/06/2019 17:13

Can you close the bedroom door with the over door hooks?

Mine live on my chair with my half worn clothes, I've wanted a hook for a long time!

Our doors close fine with the hooks. We got them from IKEA in the bathroom section. We did have a Tiger one for ds at university, but found it was too wide and wobbles and bangs when you open the door. Don't know whether he just has a super narrow door though!

The ikea ones do have holes for screws if you need to fasten them in place.

Smart10 · 23/06/2019 17:21

Over door hangers... but check the width of your doors!

DontCallMeShitley · 23/06/2019 17:23

Mine is laid on the end of the bed, cat likes to lay against it and it is easy to pick up.

Over door hooks can require some chiselling of little grooves to enable the hanger to fit otherwise the door won't close.

WishIwas19again · 24/06/2019 13:59

Command sticky hooks are really strong, we hang ours on hooks stuck directly on the door in our bedroom, the kids we have those little wooden hook rails which we again command strip to the door, haven't fallen off yet.
