Not literally please....

I want to put down some wood or wood effect flooring in our living room. We have two dogs so it needs to be scratch resistant.

I’m quite fussy about it looking good/realistic. Anyone got any genius ideas for me please??

Luxury vinyl planks

Have a look at Ted Todd hardwood floors. Really good quality and some have lacquer on which is really scratch resistant x

Oh gosh, they’re beautiful.

We're currently looking at Amtico Spacia flooring for our new extension. Same requirements here, hardwearing, scratch resistant & something that doesn't sound too 'plastic'. We had an engineered wood floor put down in our old house & it wore SO badly so looking at other options this time!

I wouldn't recommend LVT - been very disappointed by it. I much prefer a high quality laminate. Hides a multitude of sins too and the finish is much sleeker than LVT. I wouldn't touch real wood floors, I've not seen them wear well.

I’ve had engineered oak before in a previous house and it scratched so quickly. My Mum has Karndean flooring and I think it looks really plasticky, but that might just be the one she chose.

Leaning towards a high end laminate at the moment. I need to go and stare at some samples I guess....

We've just had Quickstep Laminate in 'Impressive Classic Oak Natural' put down in our new extension and I'm really impressed and so are visitors. It's 100% waterproof and considering we've had a kids party of 15 (+ parents!) 4 year olds stomping though it, dropping stuff and scraping furniture, it's pretty bomb proof!

Tingface · 05/06/2019 15:14

Paz that’s EXACTLY the one I’m looking at!

I don’t suppose you’d be up for showing a non identifying photo would you?

Just check Quickstep.com. LVT. Amazing product.
A bit expansive. But it is water proof and hard waring. NoN scratch technology.
And a lot of colour and patern choice.

We've just been all around the houses with this same dilemma!! It's for all of the downstairs in a new build.

First off we were gonna go for engineered oak but then I decided it would be too stressful! Then was thinking of LVT but have eventually ordered quickstep laminate - impressive classic oak beige! Seemed like the most sensible option with red wine drinkers, kids and dogs!

I would get yourself down to a good flooring specialist and have a look what you like. There are so many brands etc. Even the quickstep varies a lot for each specific colour as they all have different finishes so some are more realistic than others.

I have 3 dogs. Chose ceramic wood planks in mud colour for my kitchen. 7 years later they still look great, previous kitchen floor was a pale grey green porcelain and needed washing twice a day.
Without a doubt the best home decorating decision I ever made.
Spoilt it a bit by insisting on underfloor heating, used once!
