I’m thinking of buying an oak table from John Lewis. It’s a great size and shape but has a lacquered finish. Earlier this year I got a sample of lacquered oak from cotswoldco and used it as a coaster. Water quite often went onto it, and the lacquer is now damaged, as shown in the photo, whereas an unlacquered sample still looks perfect. This makes me think that lacquer is not suitable for a table top, but the table I want isn’t available without lacquer. Do you have a lacquered table, and if so, has it lasted well, or become damaged quickly? Thank you!
