Help me to organise my lounge

I've just moved in to this small house, it has virtually no storage. I need everything new and replacing as these bits are what I had to bring from my much larger last house (separation), and they don't fit the space well here. I have already ordered a glass round dining table which will be arriving next week- it's a requirement of mine to eat at a table and not off the sofa . I don't know where to put it or how to organise it and I still need to buy new chairs yet. Please help me with ideas for furniture, decoration anything. I have one dd and a dog so need all the storage I can get without it looking too overcrowded. Another top priority is a tv stand.

Not sure if I've worked out your floorplan correctly from the photos, but it looks as though the two doors are on a diagonal crossing the room - is that right? And I assume the door by the stairs is the from door.
So, I think I would put the dining table on the wall where you currently have your TV.
I would change the sofas. They are too bulky for your space. Get something on feet raised off the floor. It'll make the space seem much bigger. Something like this. www.made.com/nya-2-seater-sofa-rust-pink-weave
Obviously, you'll need to measure it all, but you could put it under the window and another one (or better an armchair) under the stairs. You could then put your TV on the wall.opposite to the window.I'd fit shelving above, around it. IKEA now do a fab copy of the iconic String system. Both practical and chic. You can configure it to suit your space www.ikea.com/gb/en/collections/svaln%C3%A4s
I'd also put a rug between the sofa, armchair, TV space to zone it as living.
I would not get a coffee table, but perhaps a small side table next to the armchair under the stairs. Boxes, hooks, baskets for storage wherever you can find space.
Keep the colours light, the furniture light (midcentury is good for this) and add some colour.
Good luck!

I'd put a compact sofa under the stairs. I wouldn't bother with armchairs etc as I think it will simply make the room feel cluttered. Make sure the sofa is on legs, raised off the floor. Like this:

You can use storage boxes under the sofa - the Samla or Skubb ranges from Ikea.

Put the TV up on the wall above the unit that it currently sits on.

Put a storage unit/sideboard below the TV. Try something like the Besta range from Ikea. You can buy ready made combinations or design your own from scratch and pick various options in terms of drawers, shelves, etc. They hold loads of stuff - we have them in a room for the kids computer games/consoles etc.

I'm not sure a round table is the right shape for the space you have available. (Sorry!) I would go for something square/rectangular which could be put along the wall under the window. Something where the chairs are stored completely under the table to minimise wasted floor space. Something like these:

Avoid coffee tables etc in the middle of the floor.

Here is the floor plan if it helps.

Looking at the floorplan, I'd put storage under the window, with a cushioned seat on top and a small table with one dining chair. That way your dining area is in the top right corner of your floorplan. You could store shoes, gloves, bookbags, etc, in your storage/bench. Something like this goodglance.com/p/maysville-wood-storage-entryway-bench-by-breakwater-bay/
It means you can easily sit 3 people (without getting spare chairs out).

I'd put a small sofa (see suggestion I made above) under the stairs and then have the wall which separates your living area from your kitchen covered in shelving (for example Svalnas). I'd incorporate the TV onto the shelving. If you have it on a slight angle, you should be able to to comfortably watch it from the sofa.

You could keep your current storage unit on the wall where it is. Put large mirror above it, to increase the feeling of light and space.

Have a look on Pinterest. There are lots of great ideas. I think the key to a small space is good organisation, light colours and furniture that fits the space. Most people put furniture that's too large. Small sofas, etc. can be very comfy.

I hope you enjoy creating a lovely space for you and your child.
