What's in fashion for lounges these days?

It was all feature walls and matchy colour accessories not so long ago wasn't it? Now it seems to be all grey and neutral.

I still like to have a bit of colour in my lounge but not sure how best to do it so that it doesn't look to dated.

Mine's neutral, a copy of f and b skimming stone but I add colour/contrast with duck egg coloured accessories-throws and cushions etc.

pale green walls, large red rug from the far east, original art from a local artist friend and photos from our travels. Floor to ceiling bifold doors the width of the room at the end to extend the room out into the garden.

Following with interest. Currently in new build so white and more white. Looking to decorate lounge first. I keep seeing a really dark blue that I like but not sure I’m brave enough!!

grey neutrals are definitely on the way out.

Ours is a sort of sandstone gold on the walls with berry coloured chenille sofas, deep tan leather chairs and honey coloured carpet. I like warm tones and a bit of colour.

We went for soft blues (seine blue) and a white clay on the ceiling and walls. We've got a feature inset woodburner with a black granite surround, and a textured cream twist axminster carpet. The curtains are in this fabric from Romo to give a splash of colour, the blue is more prominent in real life than the picture. It's very soothing and easy to live with. I can't abide the colour grey, it's just so blah and depressing.

White walls with navy curtains, a navy sofa, a tweedy sofa (greys) and pink, blue and silver ons / throws. Oak furniture

Denim drift in our lounge it’s blue with a large hint of gray I painted it cream to start with but we both hated it we live with it for a year and I saw this colour on the net and took the plunge we have black leather sofas and beech furniture

So far I've got some Sanderson dandelion curtains (ebay) and one wall is painted the same lighter teal blue as one of the flowers on the curtains (Morris blue from homebase). Other walls nutmeg white. I don't care if feature walls are not in. Still got carpet and sofa to choose. I'm sure these choices are not original but I'm crap at interior design!

Our house is very open plan and it’s currently still the all white walls and light wood floor it was when we bought it with some lovely oak and hardwood furniture and my scruffy suede effect suite. It’s not a good look but I’m not replacing it all until the DCs are big enough not to ruin it!

We have white walls, oak floor, cream-y stone fireplace as the 'canvass', so we have:

  • dark brown leather sofas (sort of art deco shape)
  • pale gold silk curtains which are bump-interlined to give a luxury feel
  • a mix of gold/burnt red/copper throws and cushions to pull it all together.

Ours is a 'new build' (20 years old) in a Georgian style, with big windows and high ceilings - unusually - so this seems to work as a mix of light and warmth.
