How best to dress a wide shallow window? Roman blinds?

Hi, I have one very wide but shallow window that needs some kind of blind/curtain. It’s never had anything up there but it looks so bare. I’m ruling out curtains because I think there will be too much material bunched up on either side of the window. I’m wondering if Roman blinds might be the answer but can you have one very wide one? Or is there a better way to approach this kind of window shape?

Any tips/thoughts/advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance

You can have anything made to measure st places like Dunelm and John Lewis but a Roman blind will be quite heavy if it's wide and will need a robust mechanism.

Thanks lightsabre. That’s what i’m Wondering - it might be too heavy. I wondered about splitting it but it might look odd. I wondered if there’s some other style i’m missing that might suit the space better 🤔

Can you give approx measurement? I'm not sure what you mean by shallow? Is it a bay window or a short drop?

Thanks 7to25. Should have done that 🤦‍♀️. The window is 110 inches wide and 37 inches drop. It’s not s bay window. I’ll try and attach a photo!

What a gorgeous view! I'd put perfect fit pleated blinds there - they won't obstruct the view at all but you can pull them down st night to make the room feel cosy

A Roman would Aldi look great but I'd fit it above the window so the view wasn't obscured

Also not Aldi!

I'd go for a roller blind. It looks like you don't have a huge amount of space above the window for roman blinds and it's such a fabrview, I would not want the blind when up to cover the window.

nespressowoo · 12/05/2019 19:27

Lord I'd kill for a view like that. Was going to suggest shutters but after seeing that I think not. Roman blinds would be great. You could get them in two sections to make it whole iyswim

I think a Roman blind would look too top heavy on that window and would detract from your view. Go for something like a roller blind which will take up less room.

Avoid multiple blinds - they just look like you can't afford a full size one. Pick a company which specialises in wide fit blinds. Something like these:

Sorry, I forgot I was on this thread!
I must admit that I am a bit stumped! My first gut feeling was short cottagey curtains from a pole but I agree with you about bunching.
110 inches is nearly 3m! That is far too wide for a Roman or roller blind. Seeing as you have 5 windows, it is hard to split the blinds.
Coming back to curtains.
In some historic houses they use printed unlined linen hung simply from a narrow pole with simple metal rings. Something like that?

if you don't need to close the curtains and you just want to' finish' the window you could use a pole and then cleverly drape some sheer material over the pole and falling to the floor either side.
