Not keen on my new paint colour

I moved house last year and thought I would leave it a while before I started redecorating. The previous owner painted a lot of the rooms a very pale grey colour - presumably as a neutral in order to sell.

I love calm, beach colours, so decided to paint my bedroom in, what I thought would be, a pale aqua. (Valspar Icy Blue) Now it’s on the walls, it is really bright, almost like a slightly bluer version of turquoise. I have covered all of the walls with it as well.

I’m going to put all the furniture back and live with it for a few days, but what could I do to townie it down a bit? Or would I just have to repaint it?

Can you post a picture? I'd be inclined to suggest white to keep a clean look

I’ll post tomorrow. This morning, I decided they should change the paint colour to ‘Barbara Cartland Eyeshadow Blue’. I’m loathe to paint it white as I also live in Spain and my house is white there. I’d rather have some colour here.

Oh it’s so annoying. We did so many testers when we were choosing our paint colours and I still didn’t know what to expect until a room was done. I feel your pain.

I too came on to say that you’re mistake was not using whiteWink

I've just painted a spare bedroom/hobby room in a Johnstone's match for Farrow Ball Borrowed Light. I got recommendations on this board as I couldn't be bothered getting testers - it's a pretty pale blue. Definitely blue, but not in your face or child's bedroom blue. Paint over it or it'll just hack you off every time you see it. Been there, done that more than once!

I used Borrowed Light I’m my daughter’s bedroom and it is beautiful.

The Borrowed Light looks more like what I had in mind. I think my husband will balk at the price of painting the full room (have a new boiler to buy and a loft conversion in the pipeline). Are there any cheaper alternatives? I could always paint the wall behind the bed in Borrowed Light (or cheaper alternative) and the rest in white.

I didn't pay F&B prices - I had it colour matched at a Johnstone's Decorator Centre where they have all the codes programmed into their machines. I got 5L paint for less than a 2.5L tin of Farrow and Ball.

I second Johnstone's colour match.
