Sturdy Kids Beds

I'm looking for recommdations for well made and sturdy kids beds. DS is 6, tall and has ASD so obsessively bounces on beds and chairs. I'm looking for something low to the ground preferably wooden and simple in style.

Lots of reviews for wooden beds mention broken slats or side panels after a year's use. Everything seems flat pack regardless of price so its really quality that we're looking for. Happy to pay up to £500 for something that lasts any suggestions welcome.

We have thuka maxi beds which are Swedish and really well made. Think thuka stopped making the maxi a few years ago - probably too expansive to make. We have a child with asd and two others the beds have been great. Maybe look on eBay or gumtree we brought one from
Gumtree and it’s been as good as the new ones.

Thanks 1busybee I've heard good things about Thuka and Flexa but its hard to find single beds nearby on Ebay its all mid/high sleepers. Will keep looking though.

I'm not sure how well any bed that regularly has a child bouncing on them will last, tbh - might it not be better to go for a substantial mattress on the floor (FWIW me and DH slept like this for many years)?

DH and I have a huge Feather and Black metal bed which is DS's all-time favourite spot for bouncing and it's still in good nick. Wondered whether there was something as strong but more kid friendly (and a bit cheaper!)

Mid or high sleeper thuka beds are all normal bed with legs on so you just unscrew the leg part to get normal bed.....and take off the side bars which stop them rolling out higher. They re interchangeable.

You can buy thuka bits individually. Stompa is another good brand but even pricier.

If you are specifically expecting it to be bounced on, I'd steer clear of slatted beds full stop, to be honest. A really good quality mattress might be a decent investment so it does a good job of spreading the impact.

I just saw this which is called a reinforced divan base

www.divanbasedirect.co.uk/products/dreamlandbeds-elegance-platform-top-divan-base?variant=13592356651113 seems to be reviewed as very strong.

There’s also a whole website called “reinforced beds” www.reinforcedbeds.co.uk/products/block-bed?variant=524603553&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6onTwsi84QIVDp3tCh2YHQ52EAQYBCABEgJk9_D_BwE

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've spotted a Thuka nearby on Ebay so I'll bid on that but look into reinforced beds as well minipie

I have the same problem (bed is from next) but you can buy replacement bed slats off eBay pretty cheaply. I think they are all pretty standard in size. Might be best to buy a standard cost bed and lots of extra slats than forking out a fortune for a bed which might break anyway.
