What will be the next navy blue?

I love the navy blue trend and when we extend was originally planning to use this shade for the office. However I know it’s been around a while now ... so what will be next? I know dark green is already a thing, will this become more popular? Any other similar colours? It’ll be a fairly small room.

I know it’s about what you like rather than what’s in fashion but I would like to stay on trend too and just create a beautiful work space :)

Do people have any thoughts on khaki as an interior colour? I love khaki but does it work on walls?

I’m really liking it too

I just pick what I like. I have no interest in trends.
It's more about what I want to look at everyday.

origamiunicorn · 17/03/2019 10:34

OP I love so many different colour combinations I have realised I don't have enough rooms in the house for all my ideas Grin

IncrediblySadToo · 17/03/2019 10:35

Think about what colours make you feel more alert & energised. What makes you knuckle down/be creative (depending on what work you’ll be doing in there!). Colours really affect our moods & enthusiasm.

Mydressinggownismybestfriend · 17/03/2019 10:42

Unicorn I wish I was like that. I’m not very adventurous with decorating and it gives me anxiety trying to find the EXACT colour I can picture in my head so I usually avoid colour for that reason.

Strawberry I completely agree but think there can be an element of both there Smile

Great idea Sad! I’ll do some research on that. Although the probably the only thing to actually make me knuckle down would be if the office featured a safe I didn’t know the code for that I could put my phone in. I’m terrible for just picking it up every 5 mins Blush

I honestly don’t think there’s anything wrong when you’re spending a lot of money for you to want your decor to be current. I’d never ever decorate my house a colour I hated - as I say it’ll never be orange or terracotta unless I see something to convince me I like it after all Wink

I think I said what strawberry said? I was serious. Just choose what you like!

Have you tried the Dulux app? You can choose a paint shade point the camera at your wall and it will show you what your wall will look like in that colour. It's not perfect and can be a bit clunky but it's worth trying!

But that's a sure fire way to waste money.

Pick what you like, get some longevity out of it. Don't be a sheep - pick and choose and make things your own.

Mydressinggownismybestfriend · 17/03/2019 11:14

I’ll do the app when I have the walls. They currently don’t exist Grin

Fair enough folks! Let’s agree to disagree on whether it’s acceptable to follow trends when decorating. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Oh haha! I like to be current as well OP, but it's always current that I like. Do if "country cottage" became a trend I wouldn't buy into that so I know what you're saying. I generally buy accessories in colours so I can change it easily. Although a lot of our walls are grey, teal and navy Blush

But, but... You said it's making you anxious Confused

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 17/03/2019 11:22

Dark green is closely following Navy. Blush pink is up there too, and mustardy brown/ earthy tones is emerging.

Mydressinggownismybestfriend · 17/03/2019 11:31

But but what ColeHawlins? Yes it does flare anxiety for me to try a million and one testers on a wall and not be able to choose one and become quite obsessed with it. We’ve painted whole, large rooms and had to redo them because they weren’t exactly what I had pictured.

I thought you were saying an obsession with trends was harming your MH.

Mydressinggownismybestfriend · 17/03/2019 11:39

No, that’s not the case. If you could see my house right now Blush

Good luck with it then Smile

grasspigeons · 17/03/2019 11:48

I find paint gets grubby and needs redoing at faster than trends turn around, so I am less worried that it will date. By the time its dated it will need doing anyway.

What about aubergine?

Mydressinggownismybestfriend · 17/03/2019 11:51

Oh aubergine! Interesting. Will have a look at that thanks.

The nicest room I ever had was a south facing room with a sunny Indian yellow.

Motherofcreek · 17/03/2019 15:35

Ohhhh yes to the dark green. Although I think it looks lovely I think it’s too grown up for me!

We’ve been looking at kitchens today. I’ve fallen in love with this kitchen. Picture does it no justice at all but it has a very calming effect. I’d 100% sit by the island drinking wine every night Grin

What will be the next navy blue?
Motherofcreek · 17/03/2019 15:40

I’ve just found a better picture on line of the kitchen.

I really do like charchoal and copper.

I’m going to have to sort my Pinterest board out now as it’s majority navy and copper!

Motherofcreek · 17/03/2019 15:42

Would help if i attached the bloody pic!

Oh yes yes! I love that.
