Just that really, has anyone don't this and does it look ok?

Never done it but I love the colour. How much light do you get in the hallway?

EntirelyAnonymised · 15/03/2019 15:50

Why would it be ‘mad’. Duck egg blue is hardly a zany colour choice

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 15/03/2019 15:51

I think it could be lovely as long as your hallway is super light.

SheeshazAZ09 · 15/03/2019 15:51

I have this colour in my lounge and it tones down the rather orange 1960s teak parquet floor very nicely. The floor is super-warm and assertive in colour; the duck egg makes a lovely contrast. If you want to warm it up, add a few warm coloured (orange/paprika red/yellow/amber/tan) accent pieces such as wall art, console table etc.

Depends on the lighting. Our hall was duck egg blue at one point and it made it feel really cold. It's now a very pale sage green and feels much nicer.

ApplestheHare · 15/03/2019 16:16

We've got it in hall and up the stairs. Previous owners chose it but I really like it. What are you worried about in particular? It doesn't seem like a strange choice.

Figaro88 · 15/03/2019 18:25

The hallway has high ceilings which are a few inches off 12ft they are quite long as well at just over 8m. It is currently polished pebble by Dulux and I have done a couple of test patches in various colours my two favourite ones are mint macaroon by Dulux and duck egg by Crown. I am just a bit worried it might be a bit bright and look it should be in a bathroom. The carpet is grey and it is 1 year old so won't be changing that.

Out of the two colours I prefer the Dulux mint macaroon but it is very bright.

Sorry the stair and landing carpet is grey but the hallway down stairs is oak flooring.

I would definitely go green duck egg rather than blue duck egg iyswim. I think that would look better with your flooring. What are your banisters like?

EvaHarknessRose · 16/03/2019 08:16

The mint macaroon looks quite strong on Google images. I would go with something paler but if you love it you love it.

Bluesheep8 · 16/03/2019 08:25

Have a look at eau De nil by Laura Ashley. From memory, it comes in 2 if not 3 shade depths. I think there is also pale duck egg in that range too which is more green than blue.

Bluesheep8 · 16/03/2019 08:28

Agree with eva mint macaroon is quite a bit stronger than I would go for personally. I'd describe it as the colour of mint choc chip ice cream in that it's bold and vibrant rather than gentle. But that's just a personal taste thing.

TillyTheTiger · 16/03/2019 09:37

Eau de nil is gorgeous, we've just painted our hall a similar colour with grey tiled floor and it looks fab!

Poddingtonp · 16/03/2019 09:40

Teresa’s green by farrow and ball ?
My aunt has Laura Ashley Eau De Nil all over her house and it’s lovely

disneyprincess87 · 16/03/2019 09:41

I have the mint macaroon in my kitchen, lovely and warm but it works as it's a light room. Show us pics when you're done and happy decorating!

BumboBaggins · 16/03/2019 14:23

Laura Ashley is THE place to go for duck egg or eau de nil. I wanted duck egg for my nursery and all the other colours I looked at in other ranges were definitely towards the “turquoise” end of things which wasn’t what I wanted at all! Also yes you can get light or dark versions.

Pascha · 16/03/2019 14:28

You need to paint a big test patch for each and live with them for a week or two.

Wendywoo1000 · 17/03/2019 09:31

I painted DD15’s bedroom in mint macaroon and its lovely. Laminated floors and white painted pine. Its fresh and light but id not paint the hallway with it. I have a sage green in my hall and i like it.
